The Maids' unique fusion of powerhouse groove/roots/rock has been described in the media as 'a blend of New Orleans funk band The Meters and Jimi Hendrix'.Formed in Sydney in 2003, The Maids comprises vocalist/guitarist Greg Nunan, with guitarist Aaron Houston (Extended Family), bass man Mark Holbert (Peregrine) and Dave Sleishman on drums. Previously known as The G.Nunan Project and well-established in Sydney under that name, the band relaunched with a fresh look reflective of their new moniker, The Maids in mid-2006.The sound roars from rock to blues, to funk and back again with each musician one of the best in their field. The suave bluesy rock groove pushes audiences to their feet while the soul ballads offer lyrical tales tall and true, all presented with charismatic larrikin style by frontman, Greg Nunan. With the EP 'She Says' now sold out (released 2005) and an album in the works, The Maids are receiving airplay on Triple J, Triple R, 2SER and FBI. The band held a residency at The Empire Hotel in Annandale mid-2005, was a featured artist on Newcastle ABC radio late in 2005, headlined MS Fundraiser at The Annandale Hotel and has played venues and festivals including The Basement, The Metro, The Civic Hotel, Brass Monkey, The Empire Hotel and Mandalay Room.Highlights of 2006 include when The Maids supported Triple J artist & winner of 2006 Fuse Festival competition, Dallas Frasca, in Sydney at The Vanguard, and when they headlined the Coffs Harbour Food & Wine Festival in October, with Az and Greg also playing three Maids Duo shows in the leadup to the festival (one of which was headlining after David Helfgott).Neither will The Maids' showstopping performance at Peats Ridge Festival on New Years Eve be forgotten easily. Greg's Hendrix-inspired guitar playing - behind his back - being just one of the many sensational moments of the show.Catch The Maids as they play double bills with MusicOz award winners Extended Family over Summer 2007.
