Fefe Dobson Headlines Great Night of Music to Support Canadian Shelter for Abused Women Saturday, May 12, 2007 @ 8:15pmToronto, ON, April 23, 2007 – Pop rock music artist, Fefe Dobson, will be hitting the stage at The Opera House Concert Hall, 735 Queen Street East, Toronto on Saturday, May 12, 2007. SIREN SOUNDS BENEFIT CONCERT will be opening at 8:15 pm, in support of Interval House (www.intervalhouse.on.ca), a shelter for abused women, which continues to help women in need in Toronto. MTV Live hosts, Diane Salema and Nicole Holness, are emceeing this memorable event.“SIREN SOUNDS is a benefit concert to celebrate the social and economical achievements of women in Canada. It is also a way to create awareness about the domestic violence that faces women today,” explains the Siren Sounds Event Team.SIREN SOUNDS will be an exceptional concert and will bring awareness to the important issue of domestic violence. Connie Guberman, a professor of women’s studies and status of women officer at the University of Toronto, will be speaking on her 20 years of work in the field of equity and other issues affecting women and the community, including violence and safety.Headlining the event is Fefe Dobson, one of Canada's most respected and talented musicians of our time. Her first album was released in 2003 and debuted at number one on Billboard’s Heat Seekers chart and within three months of the release, the album went Platinum in Canada. Dobson has been nominated for several Juno awards and won the Best New Solo Artist Award at the Canadian Radio Music Awards in 2004. She is currently working on a new album due to be released this summer.Also joining the event is Canadian performer and 2005 Canadian Idol winner, Melissa O'Neil (Sony BMG). When O’Neil was 17 years old back in 2005, she was also the youngest North American Idol winner ever.
