I am sad to say that Nine Years Away has broke up.
We have gave it a good run ,and are still friends. We are currently working on seperate projects. Thanks for all your support.^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Read above first ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Before Nine Years Away became the band it is today, a group of friends-Brian Kapelanski, Matt Looney, Easton Grainer, and Bob White- made up the band 22lb Catfish. However, the band was short-lived because Bob, 22 lbs Catfish’s drummer, decided to “keep it in the family†and drum in The Order, the band his brother Andy was in at the time. As 22lb Catfish searched relentlessly for a new drummer, they changed their name to Nine Years Away and started writing new songs.
With a new name, a new drummer, and new outlook, Nine Years Away began to take off, playing gigs at various Detroit and Ann Arbor area venues. Around this time, The Order was becoming “out of orderâ€, as they lost a guitarist and bass player. With respect and mutual adoration for each other’s music and talents, the White brothers and Nine Years Away “banded†together with a commitment to push their way around the Detroit music scene.
With newest band member Patrick Wears, Nine Years Away continues to perform their unique sound of punk/rock music in a variety of venues across the state of Michigan. All shows are in memory of Brian Kapelanski-''You Will Always Live In Our Hearts".
