Maverick 3:16 2008

I'm all for making a memory, but I'm not sure about stealing time

About Me

I have lived in three areas all my life: 1) The Big O, 2) Norfolk; and 3) Burt County. I come from a family of four; although surrounded by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. I have a sister who has lived in Western Nebraska for almost six years and is a full-time schoolteacher and a junior-high volleyball coach. I have two nieces, Kate who is seven and has just started second grade; and Emily, who just recently turned five and has just entered the kindergarten stage this year. I also have a nephew, Brian, who turned 2 in July, and let me tell you, unless I was out of my mind one night, I could have sworn he said the word nothing when he looked at me and I asked what he was doing. All I could do was laugh with a red face. You would not believe what he can do, or try to say at this stage.Anywayz, I am getting prepared for my second season of being a softball official, although I'm not sure of where I will be as of yet. I hope to get some practice doing it during the summer as well, as the more the better. I do realize, however, that it is not an easy job and that we all make mistakes from time to time; but we must realize that officials can only call them as they see them, even if it does upset some of the fans in the stands.Other than that, I just wrapped up my first year of covering high school sporting events for KWPN 107. 9 "The Bull" in West Point. No, sports fans, I don't broadcast. I just do game reports, including sub-district and district tournament games. Some you may have listened to you may have heard my name being mentioned for covering a couple three of them during the fall and winter seasons. I will be doing it again, although for the time being I am on backup. I will be on the road the next three nights, pretty much keeping as busy as the musicians or bands on the road.THERE ARE 13 TEAMS IN THE KWPN 107. 9 "THE BULL" LISTENING AREA: BANCROFT-ROSALIE, DODGE, HOWELLS, LOGAN VIEW, LYONS-DECATUR NORTHEAST, NORTH BEND CENTRAL, OAKLAND-CRAIG, PENDER, SCRIBNER-SNYDER, TEKAMAH-HERMAN, WEST POINT-BEEMER, WEST POINT CENTRAL CATHOLIC AND WISNER-PILGER.THE 2007 SUMMER BALL SEASON HAS JUST BEEN COMPLETED AND I GOT QUITE A BIT OF EXPERIENCE IN DURING MY FIRST SUMMER AS AN OFFICIAL. MORE TO COME IN 2008.HIGH SCHOOL SOFTBALL, VOLLEYBALL AND FOOTBALL PRACTICES ARE SCHEDULED TO BEGIN IN NEBRASKA ON MONDAY, AUGUST 13. THE FIRST SOFTBALL GAMES BEGIN THURSDAY, AUGUST 23, FOOTBALL ON FRIDAY, AUGUST 24 AND VOLLEYBALL THURSDAY, AUGUST 30, 2007. I AM CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF UPDATING MY CALENDAR WITH SOME OF THESE POSSIBLY SUBJECT TO CHANGE.I am also an accomplished veteran at the art of karaoke, having done over 7,000 tunes. You may have seen me most recently at Mics Karaoke Bar, The Shark Club, Oscars, among the many few.

My Interests

Sports... I watch just about a lot.... and I cover up to five games a week for KWPN. Yes, I do watch the sports reports on every channel I can find (3, 4, 6, 7, ESPN etc.)

I'd like to meet:

I already know a lot of people throughout the East Husker Conference, but would like to meet more. I've also had the pleasure of meeting a few musical entertainers in my time.

Music:

Well, I DEFINITELY love to bust the heck out of my vocal cords; whether it be pop, rock, rhythm and blues hip-hop, heavy metal, country, grunge, you name it; ANY OF IT IS GOOD STUFF (just depends on what song it is and whether I can bust it out or not)!!! I'm also a veteran of the karaoke circuit (and have supposedly done near or over 8,000 according to some Omaha singers). YOU MAY HAVE SEEN ME AT MANY PLACES; MOST RECENTLY AT MICS KARAOKE BAR, OSCARS, SHARK CLUB, PHILLYS SPORTS BAR, AND YES, HARRAHS STIR CASINO, WHERE YOU MAY HAVE SEEN ME IN APRIL 2005, AND I HAVE COMPETED IN SEVERAL CONTESTS, PLACING 1ST AND 2ND IN SEVERAL OF THEM. Sure, I'll be the first to admit I can't nail everything I've performed in the last nine years, but here's a list of ten pop/blues/rock that I've given at least a 7 out of 10 on: 1) Stevie Ray Vaughan ("The Sky Is Crying"); 2) Godsmack ("Voodoo"); 3) Goo Goo Dolls ("Give A Little Bit"); 4) Eagles ("Tequila Sunrise); 5) Poison ("Every Rose Has Its Thorn"); 6) Weezer ("Beverly Hills"); 7) Jeff Healey Band ("I Think I Love You Too Much"); 8) Green Day ("Basket Case"); 9) Bad Company ("Young Blood") and 10) Glenn Frey ("Party Town"). I do sing some country and some hard rock, depending on the nature and the voice of the song as well. And there you have it, the whole damn shebang in a major variety of musical taste, JUST SO YOU KNOW, I AM ALWAYS WORKING/PRACTICING NEW MATERIAL WHEN I GET THE CHANCE. ALSO, TO ANSWER SOME PEOPLE IN OMAHA WHO ARE WONDERING IF I AM GOING TO PUT A KARAOKE CD OUT, THE ANSWER IS YES!! I WILL, BUT NOT LIKELY FOR SOME TIME!! By the way, I love to go back to the music I grew up on, like REO Speedwagon, Poison, John Fogerty, Rick Nelson, The Cars, Fleetwood Mac, Dire Straits, George Thorogood, ALL THE GOOD STUFF!!! Especially if you hear it on any classic music station you can find!!

Movies:

Too numerous to mention, but what the heck... Smokey And The Bandit, Roadhouse, The Notebook, Beverly Hills Cop, 48 Hours, The Devil Wears Prada, The Perfect Storm, Black Dog, The Waterboy, Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, Coming To America, Eight Below, Hooper, Stroker Ace, Click, etc. By the way, these movies I put in random order so DON'T think I'm something different because that movie is at the top of my list.

Television:

I followed the current season of AMERICAS GOT TALENT up until the season finale last night, and last night had some of the BEST performances on the show, especially the performance involving Julienne Irwin and Taylor Swift. Otherwise, it's pretty much all the news stations I can find, along with the Dukes Of Hazzard, Walker Texas Ranger, Laguna Beach, The Hills, Nash Bridges, Young & The Restless, Bold & Beautiful, Real World, WWE/ECW/TNT, most of the KM3 Soaps, Major League Baseball games, all NBA games, American Idol, and the list goes on and on and on!! Don't worry, I didn't forget Husker sports or any other college football and basketball games, not to mention the NFL and all that sort of jazz!!

Books:

Sports books, music reference books... anything of that nature!! I can always find time for other types anytime.

Heroes:

All my friends in the East Husker Conference, too damn numerous to mention, but I love it. Otherwise, it would be my family... especially my grandmother who is still kickin' in her 90's. To my karaoke friends out of Omaha whom have kept in touch with me over the past 2 damn years, I thank you!! I am still keeping up with my singing, and I AM GOING TO KEEP DOING IT UNTIL I CAN'T SING ANOTHER DAMN NOTE!!!
