Darrell Tibbs

I am very blessed to be able to do what I do, and that is being a percussionist, something that I get a joy out of every time I step on stage, recording in a studio or composing a song. It’s the one job I feel that I can truly do until I just can’t function anymore.

> I have played everything from small hole in the wall places, to the Royal Albert Hall in England, to Carnegie Hall in New York City. I toured with Donna Summer for 10 years and I toured with Take Six as their drummer for a while, performed and recorded with Eric Essix over the last 18 years. I have worked with some great producers like Tommy Sims, Trammell Starks, Sam “Shake” Anderson, and Nile Rogers. I also perform, (when I’m in town) with the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, which usually brings in some really cool artists from around the world.

> I have had some people and producers ask what kind of a style do I have, who do I play like, I have/had a lot of influences and like anyone I would say… ME! But, to some it up, I take every piece, listen to what’s going on, see what holes need to be filled, what spaces need to be left open, then season and groove! I’m Thankful to be a working musician!
