I have been listening to Scrw music since the early 90's, somewhere around 93-94 (R.I.P Robert Davis aka DJ Screw)! I have to credit my partner Salee for turning me on to the world according to DJ Screw. The first song that I ever heard Scrw'd was Lay It Down by 8-Ball & MJG. Since that moment Scrw Music has been an interest of mine. As the skill and technique associated with Scrw Music has evolved, it has become a phenomenon outside of Texas and has come to the point of being recognized as another southern contribution to the culture of HIP-HOP. I have always been a fan, but now I am a contributor to an artform that is to be acknowledged and respected.
Also, screw is more than music it is literally a subculture. Those who truly live that subculture know that screw influences the way that you do things throughout your everyday existence. What and how you dress, talk, walk, drive, smoke, drink, and a host of other things are all influenced by the screw culture. I am not here to promote living the culture. Yet, I do have an appreciation for it. You really have to live to understand it. But, it ain't just the music.......
Much respect to the pioneers (DJ Screw, Michael Watts, & O G Ron C, DJ Bull, Etc...) and all the other people who do that chopp'd and scrw'd music.
I currently host two internet radio shows. The Chopp'd & Scrw'd Show ( The Chopp'd & Scrw'd Show ) is dedicated to the news, current events, and the random wild shit that happens around here, all to the soundtrack of that Chop & Scrw. The Grind ( The Grind ) is exclusively for INDEPENDENT ARTIST to promote and get some added exposure and for the events designed for artists.
