Beginning in the late 90’s as a pastime for high school, buddies Murphy, Woolio, Bleque Man and Mook-C, shared the same English class. It is here where the boys would write comical poetry about teenage life, which later became realistic rap lyrics. As time passed they decided to record these lyrics on an old karaoke machine to share with a select few friends. As more and more songs were made, and more and more people heard the songs, they would record over any instrumental they could get their hands on.
The next step was a decision to start creating Coomicub beats and head to the studio. By the age of 18, Coomicub had recorded approximately 100 underground songs, both at home and in the studio.
It was not long before Coomicub were approached by various venues and dj’s with regards to playing live gigs. Their début gig was played to a sold out crowd at the opening night of Coolangatta Hotel’s, Balcony Nightclub. The club announced that they had a record breaking number through the door and record bar takings.
In 2005, the group caught the attention of well known rap legends, Digital Underground whilst on their Australian Tour. The American rappers invited Coomicub to both record and perform with them on their Gold Coast leg of the tour.
