About Me

The video is above is by a band called The National - I think they're the best band I've heard recently. Watch it and read the amazing lyrics below!
"You have to do it running but you do everything that they ask you to cause you don’t mind seeing yourself in a picture as long as you look faraway, as long as you look removed. Showered and blue-blazered, fill yourself with quarters, showered and blue-blazered, fill yourself with quarters.
You get mistaken for strangers by your own friends when you pass them at night under the silvery, silvery citibank lights, arm in arm in arm and eyes and eyes glazing under - oh you wouldn’t want an angel watching over, surprise surprise they wouldn’t wannna watch another uninnocent, elegant fall into the unmagnificent lives of adults.
Make up something to believe in your heart of hearts, so you have something to wear on your sleeve of sleeves, so you swear you just saw a feathery woman carry a blindfolded man through the trees. Showered and blue-blazered, fill yourself with quarters. Showered and blue-blazered, fill yourself with quarters."
I'm Dan, 25...and from Folkestone in Kent (UK). We're as near to France as you can get without being in the sea! You know when you're coming close to my town because on the highway bridge it says "Tina I love you, marry me" - how very tasteful....Despite this grafitti lowering the tone, Folkestone is a very beautiful place and it's certainly no worse than any other small seaside town...
I used to play guitar and do very few vocals in a band called Jairus (www.jairusonline.co.uk or www.myspace.com/jairus) in which I have spent the last 6 years travelling all over the world on tour - but that's now over after taking up a quarter of my life...I have now joined Unwed Sailor as their second guitar player, and touring with them in East Coast USA in December - this is awesome news for me as they've been one of my favourite bands for a long time! Music is one of the very few things I'm good at and it's my entire life: I play drums, guitar, piano and the dijeridoo, and I sing at times - In my spare time I play various instruments in other bands and operate a recording studio (www.myspace.com/themanorstudio) and teach drums/guitar.
Oh, I put on shows when I feel like it, and have previously had the likes of Mike Kinsella, Robert Nanna and Jeffrey Lewis come perform for me in Kent!
I like:
Music! Driving around Kent looking for cool places to explore - I like the outdoor stuff and escaping from my hectic everyday life!, watching documentaries, hanging out with bands in my studio, having people that have shared the same tour memories as me, drinking coffee all over the place...
I am optomistic about the human race, and I give everyone a chance.
Listen to The Cure, they will change your life!
I made the music for the video below, but not the sound effects over the top that ruin it!:

My Interests

Music and art that captivates me(in its many forms), the four seasons! halloween, the incredible temples in Kyoto - Japan, the kaleidoscopic mind of Tim Burton, watching/reading about the British criminal underworld, amusement parks (especially ones that are standing but not operating)...abandoned places, big country houses! Ghost stories, I have a certain morbid curiosity!

I'd like to meet:

Professor Louie (again) - Syd Barrett, Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright. Robert Smith, Donovan, Tim Burton....Oh, and Pennywise The Dancing Clown!!!

Music:

Pink Floyd, Sunny Day Real Estate, Syd Barrett, Unwed Sailor, Low, Girls Against Boys, Lack, Pele, Bane, Donovan, Surrounded, Leonard Cohen, The Appleseed Cast, Sometree, The Lemonheads, Sepultura, Milemarker, Owls, The Casket Lottery, Owen, Aloha, Faith No More, Helmet, The Nationale Blue, Joan Of Arc, Interpol, Kolya, Jets To Brazil, Volcano - I'm Still Excited!, American Football, Mates Of State, Eva Cassidy, Do Make Say Think, Bear Vs Shark, The Postal Service, Leaving Rouge, Cap'n Jazz, Benton Falls, Last Days Of April, Crush Kill Destroy, Death Cab For Cutie, Slayer, Hot Snakes, Mogwai, Saves The Day (old), Roxy Music, Refused, Joy Division, Arab Strap, Will Haven, Howard Jones, The Cure, Pelican, The Smiths, Snapcase, Cyndi Lauper, Suede, The Beach Boys, Shai Hulud...the list is endless.

Television:

The Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy...I don't really watch much TV besides those little jems. I like documentaries, especially things like "A Life Of Grime"......I like the morbid stuff too, I just find it interesting.

Books:

Suspicious Deaths & Foul Deeds in Folkestone & Dover! Haunted Kent, Folkestone in Pictures...King Of The Gypsies - Bartley Gorman, How To Shoot Friends & Influence People (biography of Mark Brandon 'Chopper' Read), The Melancholy Death Of Oyster Boy (and other stories), Lenny Mclean - The Guv'nor, BRONSON - Charles Bronson, Pretty Boy - Roy Shaw...Lots of true crime is what I like!

Heroes:

I've never been asked that before. I have people I respect, but I wouldn't say they were heroes as such...those people are: Eddie Vedder from Pearl Jam, Tim Burton for his kaleidoscopic mind, Lenny Mclean for his ethics and courage...Professor Louie and his nephews Jeffrey and Jack Lewis for having something to say that's worth hearing.

And The Doll Was Called Candyfloss

Dresser-drawers are spying under wine splashed surfaces. We're in rooms, in towns, on our own. And none of us know the difference between kisses and fuck you's. I realised this when I stepped out...

Spray Can Authors
