WHY MUSIQ & CHOCOLATE? I'll begin by saying hello to everyone and my sincere thankyous to all those that have stopped by to visit my page and for listening to my song! Melodies with tasty delight...like it or not Musiq and Chocolate is truly a perfect marriage that many of us cannot resist, so why not combine them together being that they are my two most favorite things (and I must say, I perfer DARK CHOCOLATE), and share the goodies with everybody else!
LET ME BREAK IT DOWN...Outside of my obsessions with chocolate, laughing, and a great cup of coffee...I love music too. Since very young I enjoyed the sounds of different melodies, songs, great wonderful music and just escaping into a world I would call my own musical universe. I'm sure many of you music lovers can relate to that same unique feeling. For the past five years I've been trying to really express what I see and feel into melodies, music and bring my sound to life. Yet as little Boricua girl I recall family gatherings and holidays among my aunts and uncles, grandparents, and close friends of the family; playing their guitars, cuatro, cow bells, maracas, bongos, guerrero and singing to old Puerto Rico tunes and songs and everyone else would take turns singing or just simply gather around and listen to the beautiful melodies! Being in the mist of all of that truly captured my desire and love for music. I'm so blessed to have had those beautiful memories instilled in me. I remember me at 4yrs. old, hopping all around the living room and listening to funk/soul & disco flo "Freak out", "Turn the beat around, "Ring my bell", "Bad Girls", "Last Dance", "On the Radio", "We are family" and my favorite spanish christmas carol " Con mi Burrito"..."tuki tuki tuki tuki, tuki tuki tuki ta". I mean I would go ballistic when ever I heard those songs. I would nag to my moms to play the radio or the records, over and over again. "The Tide Is High", originally performed by Debbie Harry and Blondie was another of my favorites and when that song played on the radio it's almost like I would go into a trans. There was something about that sound, that song that made me feel happy! Till this day my family continues to play those beautiful tunes and share their affection and appreciation for different kinds of music.
MY OWN SHINE ON...I performed at the Hot Chocolate Soul Event in February 2006, Hartford, CT, which is a delicate balance between Music, Comedy & Poetry.
And boy I tell ya...I managed to pull it through with determination, considering that it was my first performance. But what I enjoyed the most was the positive crowed that shared the same hunger for talent, a good time, open for my deliverance and just the enjoyment of music itself.
Although it hasn't been easy to get all of my music produced and recorded as much and as often as I would love to, I'm still grateful for the opportunity to come through here and share one of my first songs I've written and recorded and produced by Bobbi "Funkee Boy" Tammaro (hit songwriter and producer) which was a great pleasure to work with. (thx Bobbi) You can check Bobbi Tammaro out at funkeeoboy.com. I'm hoping to record more songs this year and share them with you as soon as I complete them! For many years and more so these past five years, I've been still holdin' on to that special feeling and rush that music continues to give me and I will continue to write and sing to my songs and bring them to life as long as it makes me smile....as long as it continues to beat inside of me. Networking in and out of MySpace is my way in gaining as much knowledge as I can possibly get in the music world. And having said that well my feelings and words don't compromise my love for music! Sharing my songs has always been my life long dream and now I'm happy to do just that right here on MySpace!
Thank you for taking the time out to visit my page & for your requests, messages, and comments. Truly heartfelt!

So who is Choco Orta? Well her natural and birth name is Virgen Milagros Rodr..guez, artistically she goes by Choco Orta; born one 28th of November in San Mateo de Cangrejos of Santurce, Puerto Rico. Santurce is where Ismael Rivera was born. She majored in theater education and graduated with honors from the University of Puerto Rico. She learned and studied music theory on solfeggio at the Puerto Rican Conservatory of Music. Her vocal skills were attained under the guidance and tutelage of professors Fonseca and Darisabel Isales. In the area of dance, Choco studied with the well-known Puerto Rican dance instructors, Jos.. "Junito" Betancourt, Sarita Ayala and Ita Medina. She is a percussionist conga drum player. When we integrate all these abilities into one package we can surely see how well prepared she is to succeed as a lead woman salsera artist, singer, and entertainer. Plus, she brings her Puerto Rican African soul and spirit as icing on the cake for which she's known as Choco short for chocolate. Thus creating a vibrant sense of support and solidarity from all hardcore elite fans of salsa music. Sabor! Mam.. dame m..s que me gusta el dulce.Currently, Choco is under contract with the recording firm of MP. MP is also the company that produces Tito Rojas' music. With MP Choco recorded one CD in 1997 titled Choco Orta "Sentimiento y Sabor. This is remarkably slow given her remarkable combination of skills and abilities. Her contract with MP ends in 2001. Choco Orta performed with stunning acclaim in the Dominican Republic, New York City, Chicago, and Miami. In Miami she performed in the 1996 Miden Music Conference.Choco brings in her hands the soul and rhythms that are missed by women in her category of artists of salsa music, in her voice she delivers similar tones and melodies possessed by some of the greatest in her field. In herDONOTBLOCKOURADS body she displays the beauty that distinguishes all Latin and Puerto Rican women. In her character Choco exemplifies the strong sense camaraderie among all Hispanics, and in her experience a determination to succeed as a lady in an industry that often neglects the skills and contributions of women.
This is the scene from 24 years ago, when you were just a chocolate bar in your daddy's back pocket. It' was a time of strife, indulgence and emergence. People were experimenting with Synthesizer Music. Wearing funny clothes. Eating funny food. There were only 3 sushi restaurants in Vancouver; now there's 3 on every corner. ____________________________________________________________ __ The Tarrytown Music Hall was built in 1885 by William L. Wallace, a local chocolate manufacturer who had the idea to build a theatre in the heart of Tarrytown. Designed by Phillip Edmunds, Wallace's "Music Hall" is now one of the oldest, legitimate, standing theatre's in Westchester County. The exterior decoration of the Music Hall is also considered one of the finest examples of Queen Anne decorative brickwork in the country.
