About Me

What does it mean to be me? I'm a mix of sensuality and purity, kindness and fierceness, sexuality and innocence, playfullness and seriousness ... I strive for balance and take nothing for granted that has come into my life, both the good and the bad. I treasure more than anything those that have come into my life and blessed it by being in my heart and world. I am fiercely loyal to the people in my life and have a huge open heart. I'm all about family and enjoy being around others that value their family ties as well.
Writing has always been a passion of mine and actually became my form of healthy release and healing when at a very young age my family went through a traumatic adjustment with my father becoming ill and in need of full time care. This love of writing and my passionate need for learning, kept me focused on the prize that would someday be mine … all I ever wanted to do after high school was go to college and get my degree in sociology. I've always been fascinated by people and the social energy of the way we interact and why we do the things we do. I had to postpone this dream as my family needed my help to care for my father and it was my greatest honor to be there for them. After he passed away, I decided it was time for me to be “selfish” and go achieve my dream of going to college. For years, I have been encouraged to follow the path of nursing or medicine by my friends and family since they had watched me be my father’s caregiver and nurse for 12 years. They observed how I cared for him and what my temperament was in the face of all kinds of stresses and demands and continually made the comment to me that I was cut out for the path of being a caregiver. My best friend decided to leave corporate America and go back to school for nursing/medicine. She successfully encouraged me to do the same, so now I have switched my major from sciology to nursing. My primary focus of nursing/medicine is to work with children that have various physical and learning disabilities, in particular Autistic spectrum (aka autism) so after I get my BSRN I'll be going on to get my masters in speech pathology. After doing many hours of volunteer and fieldwork I know this is the path that I am meant to follow.
I have a busy schedule (work full time & school) so the free time I have I like to spend wisely...sometimes relaxing at home and sometimes going out - the key being enjoying life and keeping balance. I feel life is a gift and I don't take it for granted. I live each day with passion and joy. I love to laugh and am considered by those that know me the best ... as loving, funny and the person you can count on whenever in need. A quote that I love and that inspires me daily is by Anais Nin and beautifully sums up where I am at in this chapter of my life "and then came the day when the risk to remain tight in bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom"
... what a few of the people who know me have said about what type of person I am ...

My Interests

Learning, inspiring, laughing, loving, appreciating, believing, trusting, growing, enjoying, befriending, smiling, kissing, just being me …

I'd like to meet:

I enjoy meeting people with good energy, kind hearts and fun spirits

"Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage." - Anais Nin I'm honored and inspired when I meet others who are courageously facing their fears and reaching new heights, making positive changes within themselves and being role models in their communities...!

Music:

Music is deeply part of my being - I could not live without it. Powerful beats, melancholy chords, heartfelt lyrics that make my soul melt - I love it all! Music has gotten me through many a dark hour and enriched many a precious memory. If I could live a fantasy life it would be to be a song writer and musician - that would be so amazing - but since that is not the path my life has taken me on I secretly live the life of music through the lives of the artists I respect and listen to and also my friends that are musicians ... they inspire me and I adore them. Music is a drug and I am hooked ...

Television:

Ok one guilty pleasure when it comes to TV - Grey's Anatomy!!! I'll admit I'm hooked and have to watch it.

Books:

I love to read! I can't even begin to list all the books I enjoy reading - let's just say I read a lot and really enjoy learning about all sorts of things so I have a lot of books and love getting suggestions from friends on books I should read.

Heroes:

My father (who I miss and think about every day) and my mother - both heroes and beautiful individuals in their own way - sources of light and inspiration to me forever and always ... my friends - good lord I would not be who I am today if it wasn't for the lights of life that I have in my life. Also those who care enough to make a difference, whether it be in their own life, their circle of friends, their community or the world as a whole - if you make a positive contribution to this world in any way, on any level large or small, you are a hero to someone and inspire others to do the same.

"Be the change that you wish to see in the world!" - Ghandi..
