About Me

AV MARKET DAY GIG - HUNGDONKEY , RADIOPHOBIA , LOWRIDE , DJ's , AV RSL, SAT 17TH OF NOV ,7:30 PM ,COME ALONG IN YOUR LEOPARD SKIN TIGHTS AND SQUEAL AT THE MOON
Hungdonkey had their first jam in a little garage just off the end of North Avalon Beach in March, 1998. Originally an instrumental two piece consisting of Geoff Nicol on guitar and Matty Hough on drums, they became a three piece when Clay MacDonald joined them on bass and vocals.
All unemployed and jamming everyday the band had concocted their very own form of metal/cock rock/doom porno cheese in no time. Their mates started dropping around to sit in on rehearsals, then a few weeks later Beirgut and Georgo got the boys up to play at their parties and that was the start of it all.
In the blink of an eye the 'Donkey had become a fixture of the local community. For a while there it was like anyone that was having a party would get Hungdonkey to play in their yard or in their living room. Good times.
A year down the track and many thrashings later a few of the associated gang took out a lease on a sweet house in Palmy that would end up playing the role of host for the 'Donkey parties (respect to the beloved tennants - may the Palmy house rest in pieces).
Those parties truly were the coming together of the community. From 50 year old Phil to 14 year old Felix, the parties united so many different heads. It brought old crew together with young crew, skaters together with surfers, straight crew together with the stoners, the boys with the girls, the loners with the cool kids and Hungdonkey provided the soundtrack.
Around that time the boys were invited on the Rip Curl Search Stomp Tour. Joining forces with a bunch of wicked musicians and a bunch of insane young surfers - the tour saw them root and play at every second beach from QLD down into Victoria. That`s complete bullshit actually. No one rooted and it was actually about 5 gigs inbetween Newcastle and Ulladulla (who`s writing this thing?)
Since that, the last 6 years have been hectic. Hungdonkey have played about 4 Av R-ee gigs and another 3 local parties - all the while dipping in and out of their roles as Donkeys to help out playing in their friends bands and to do some other weird shit.
Due to a solid commitment of doing fuck all they neglected going out on the road again until early last year when they took on another East Coast Tour with their bloodied friends - The Goons Of Doom.
In more recent times the boys have been putting on a whole bunch of free outdoor gigs anywhere and everywhere from the driveway at Easy Automotives in Newport to the car park and skate bowl at South Av to the 4 week residency at the rangers hut at North Pamly to Jacko's 30th on the grass next to the Pamly Golf Course.
They`ve been making it possible for absolutely everyone to come down from 4 week old babies to mums and dads to little kids, young crew and dogs as well. Because the gigs are in a public space and they are usually held in the daytime, no one is left out. It's insane. In the same area you'll have families having picnics, young fellas playing with each others dicks, dogs running around shitting everywhere and, of course, Hungdonkey laying down some cock rock and gushing on about frozen tits and bison shit. It's an awesome community thing.
Thanks to the Donkey, everyone gets to hang (except when they play at the Rissole!).
Bless you, bless Hungdonkey
