About Me


W. Gene Butler, an extremely diverse, Professional Drummer from Cleveland, OH, with twenty-five years of playing experience. Over the course of his career he has appeared with numerous national acts of different genres, including gospel artists and producers Donnie McClurkin, Charles Woolfork, Walter Hawkins, Darlene Love, Yolanda Adams, Dorothy Norwood, Vicky Winans, Marvin Sapp, Vanessa Bell Armstrong, along with many others. Gene has also been a member of the rock group Heritage Drive and toured with Joe Deninzon and Stratospheerius. Prior to relocating to the DFW area, Gene had been a member of the several jazz bands in Cleveland and has appeared on stage with several jazz icons including Eddie Baccus Jr. of Pieces of a Dream and the legendary Winton Marsalis. Gene has also worked with noted producers, Bobby Sparks and Aaron Linsey, and was recently apart of a recording session that included legendary guitarist Jonathan Dubose, and this was Jonathan's last live session. This was a tremendous honor for Gene!With all of Gene's professional accomplishments he is most proud of being a father of three. I am no longer with my ex but am anxious to see what God does next!

Then Robert "Hubb" Hubbard, Eric Byous, John Blackwell, Will Kennedy, Joel Smith, Jeff Davis, Dennis Chambers, Andrus Murray(All Cleveland drummers need to show him love!!!!!!!!!!), Dana Davis, Mark Hill, Buddy Mlies, Gerald Heyward, Maurice Hudson, Cliff Colson, EWF, Gap Band, Prince, Ricky Lawson, Ricky Minor, Jimmy Hendrix, Jonathan Dubose, Aaron Battle, Teddy Campbell, Marvin McQuitty, Commissioned(earlier versions), Winans, everyone that I have had the pleasure and the pressure of working with, and my children who always challenge me to be better for their sake!
