ROBERT CUNNINGHAM

Robert C Cunningham III, born on 12/7/62 in Brooklyn, NY. My early interest in music was inherited from my father Bob Cunningham who is a traditional jazz bass player still living & performing in the New York city area. I..ve played off & on locally with bands until about age 22 when I met & started working with Gerald Levert (RIP) , the son the the Ojay..s Eddie Levert. We started off just recording original songs in Levert's basement studio unitl Gerald desired to start performing live. Gerald Levert, younger brother Sean & Marc Gordon along with myself on guitar recruited other local musicians to form a unit which performed around Ohio at various clubs & festivals. I worked with Levert & Gerald Levert from 1985 thru 1993. I have developed songwriting & production skills which earned opportunities to write &/or produce songs on various local acts as well as ME'NA, PAMELA WILLIAMS RUDE BOYS, MEN AT LARGE & ONE OF THE GIRLS. Over the years I have lent my guitar playing talents for recordings by various local Cleveland artists as well as recordings by national acts like Levert, Mikki Howard, Silk, Zhane, Me..na, Millie Jackson & most recently smooth jazz saxophonist Pamela Williams. Most recently I've played guitar with various gospel choirs, indi artists as well as with national acts JOHNNY GILL, LEVERT, PAMELA WILLIAMS, MINDI ABAIR & MIKKI HOWARD.
