Adam Cooper-Terán is an independent video artist from Tucson, Arizona.
A self-taught, DIY-video-geek, Adam first broke into the performance scene as the animator and projectionist for the world-renowned fire troupe, Flam Chen Pyrotechnic Theater . Today he makes up the third arm of the internationally-acclaimed spoken video project, Verbobala , whilst still producing work for Flam Chen and other groups like Bark Bark Bark , Not Breathing , and the media collective, We Are The Weather .
As a public artist, Adam is a lead coordinator for one of the most inclusive festivals in the United States, the All Souls Procession Weekend , organized by the Arizona nonprofit, Many Mouths One Stomach . Culminating in a large-scale parade through Downtown Tucson, this multi-cultural spectacle showcases floats, puppets, large-scale video projections, altars, and fiery installations all in celebration and mourning for the Dead + Living.
Adam’s repertoire is extensive, exploring subjects as diverse as pornography, urban sprawl, portraiture, mysticism, and terrorism. His work is relatively unknown, but has been featured at major venues like the Acorn Arts Centre in Cornwall, England, the Tucson Convention Center, Mesa Arts Center, Supper Club (San Francisco), and Arcosanti, AZ, for major events like the Arizona International Film Festival, El Tour de Tucson, and Tucson's All Souls Procession Weekend. Adam’s current work focuses on media de-construction and sampling from the Internet; mostly in opposition to the Wars on Terrorism, Information, and the War in Iraq.
