ARTY STARTS
My love for the performing arts was apparent from an early age where I'd dress up as Cher to belt out I got you Babe. My parents nurtured my dramatic personality and I was enrolled as a teenager in drama groups; circus schools, singing and dancing lessons.
At eighteen I moved to Edinburgh to study Drama and Community Arts at Telford College. While my peers did degrees to pursue careers in the performing arts, I wasn't convinced I was destined to be an artist. Instead, being a bit of a bossy boots, I opted for organising people and 'stuff' as my preferred buzz.
A TOE IN THE DEEP END
Barely twenty, I jumped headlong into self-employment in the arts where flexibility and a willingness to multi-task were necessary.
As a co-ordinator, assistant and manager, I've covered everything from community drama to large scale arts projects, internationally and locally including Artist Liaison, Audience Development, Press, Front of House, Production, Stage Management and Box Office.a

Music:
RIDING THE WAVES and some...
Having a passion for acoustic and folk music, I managed solo artists and bands. Ive worked with some great artists including Eddi Reader, Duke Special, Bert Jansch, Old Blind Dogs and Colin Reid. These experiences eventually led to me programming international folk music for the Belfast Festival at Queen's as well as working for the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival and presenting my own radio show!
Producing my own events, staging acoustic and club nights with live music, cabaret, film and other crazy ideas means nothing floors me much. One of my current events I produce is for a bit of fun is GLITTER and SPARKLE which is an easy listening club with at twist (www.glitterand sparkle.com), featuring showgirls, Can Can girls, magicians and Terri Hooley (the Godfather of punk) on the decks playing sounds from the 40s – 60s.
