eye5 MISSION
eye5 recordings was established in the summer of 2006.
The Bay Area Boon Docks mothered the light. The Children came, and gathered around on inspirations porch. The Sages spoke creation for Creation's sake. The messengers came on behalf of Truth, the father of the Artist, the fed, the starving, and the shades of grey between. This is life in the new days of hope. And with hope, we strive to give. peACE.

The San Francisco Bay Area has long been a home for upstart movements that have later blossomed, only to achieve international recognition. Offerings that have been artistic, and even political in nature, have both seen there beginnings in the humble soils of Northern California. Deep into the Alameda estuary five miles south of Oakland, lies Hayward Ca., a city of approximately 140,000 strong. Here, in the underdog, overlooked, foothills of Hayward, the seeds for what is now known as eye5 recordings have been nurtured in the tradition of eclectic, forward thinking musicianship, that have begun to garner praise from literary entities that span from SF Weekly, to Okay Player.com.
The profound live instrumentation of Destruments (four Stars, Urb Magazine), the rare chemistry of Pacific Sonz, and the critically acclaimed lyricism of Prince Ali, make for a Herculean stable of artists, that have shared the microphone and stage with Hip- Hop veterans such as, Planet Asia, Defari, Rakaa (Dilated Peoples), Hieroglyphics, and Grammy Award winning neo- soul legend, Dwayne Wiggins of Toni Tony Tone.
With artists such as Nas, Jay –Z, and Krs-One, expressing great concern for the state of Hip-Hop, from content, presentation, preservation, to dwindling sales, it only makes sense that a collective of artists would emerge that are content conscious, who comprehend the gravity of how one’s offering is presented, which inherently preserves the rich essence of Hip- Hop, eventually leading to sales, considering the fact that fans are starving for the very music that inspired and deepened their love for a culture that is simply a reflection of their own selves.
eye5 recordings is a breath of fresh air. A sound gently nestled in the winds of change. A change that all spiritual beings who understand the significance of nurturing “soul music,†desire to witness and participate from a sincere place of need. eye5 is one entity reflective of a necessary shift that can bring about a great balance, heightening our vibration, first locally, regionally, nationally, and finally globally, . Cultural pillars are always rooted in humble beginnings, but as they gather steam and gain momentum, they become what we commonly title a movement.
