Filmmaker, Director, Producer and Television Host, Joslyn Rose Lyons is one of today’s rising stars on the independent film scene. With projects for HBO, Current TV, BET Networks, NBC, Discovery Channel, ITVS and PBS, it’s no wonder Joslyn Rose has an Award Winning Feature Film on her resume already.
In 2002, Joslyn founded her own film house, Jog9 productions, and directed and produced the award winning feature length documentary Soundz of Spirit. A riveting film that explores the relationship between the creative process and spirituality in hip-hop culture. The film features artists such as Goapele, KRS-1, Common, Mystic, Cee-Lo, Medusa, Outkast Andre 3000, Rakaa of Dilated Peoples, Hieroglpyhics crew including Del, Pep Love and Opio, DJ Qbert, Blackalicious, Chali 2NA, Planet Asia, Living Legends, Saul Williams, Jenneifer Johns, Talib Kweli, Zion I, The Last Poets, an original score by Amplive,among many others. After screening at more than 50 film festivals globally, including it’s premiere at the HBO Urban World Film Festival in New York, where she went on to executive produce an entirely original soundtrack featuring artists such as Cee-Lo, Hope Shorter and Blackalicious to accompany the DVD release in 2005 through Urban Works Entertainment / Ventura Distribution.
Joslyn’s work directing, producing and hosting for network includes television content for the Emmy Award Winning Current TV, where some of her featured works feature Pharoahe Monch, DJ Ztrip, and Scifen Clothing, just to name a few.
Producing and hosting for network television expands to BET and Rap City, including the Top Ten Countdown, and coverage of the Hip Hop Chess Federation with Rza Wu-Tang Clan and various other artists and youth organizations.
With a passion for cinema and the true creative spirit, Joslyn also works with Los Angeles based Simmons Lathan Media Group “I’m honored and inspired to be working with Simmons Lathan†notes Joslyn of her latest endeavor and adds that the poets she’s working with embody the spirit of this art form and shed light on one of the most important musical movements in a long time.

Her passion for community has led her to serve as the Producer for the Social Services multi media campaigns with Sway (MTV), actor Delroy Lindo and Dwayne Wiggins (Tony Toni Tone), spearheading the movement to bring awareness to the Bay Area’s foster care and adoption crisis.
Joslyn Rose has exciting projects on the horizon as well, most notably a feature film, entitled Destiny.
