Hello my name is Linda Mace and
as my daughter Zoë is too young
to have her own myspace I am going
to tell you all about her on mine.THIS IS A TRUE STORY OF COURAGE
AND BREATHTAKING TALENT OF AN 11 YEAR
OLD CHILD WHO SINGS FOR HER SISTER
AND HAS RAISED OVER £120,000 FOR
CHARITY!!Zoë has the most incredible operatic
singing voice and is 12 years old!
Zoë sings in memory of her little
sister Jodie who was born with Downs
Syndrome and a complex heart defect.
The minute Zoë saw Jodie she fell
in love with her and from that day
they were inseparable! Then Zoë's world feel apart when
Jodie died in March 2005 during
corrective heart surgery...I never
thought she would ever get through
it. They had the most incredible bond;
they were devoted to each other. Zoë
cared for her sister like a parent
cares for their child, nothing was
too much. Zoë spent hours teaching
her sister to talk, sing, dance,
read and learn everything she
needed to know so she would be able
to go to the same school as her.SO HOW DID ZOË COPE?
WELL SHE DID WHAT SHE DOES
BEST.....SING!!Zoë had already recorded an album
in 2004 called "Little Ray of Light"
which was released locally in Oxford
to raise money for The Oxford
Children's Hospital which sold 5,000
copies raising £27,000 in just 5 weeks,
she was even invited to sing on GMTV
on 10th November and tell her story.
So she decided to make another album
called "Songs for my Sister" and
dedicate it to Jodie, to raise funds
and awareness for The Downs Syndrome
Association.Just 4 weeks after the tragic and
unexpected death of her sister, Zoë
recorded “Songs for My Sister†during
her Easter school holidays.
“Songs for My Sister†was released
nationwide on 6th June 2005, in
conjunction with Downs Syndrome
Awareness Week. Zoë returned to GMTV
on that day to officially launch the
album and the immediate response
was huge!Six days after the release date Zoë’s
album reached No 2 in the Solo Classical
artist charts, No 5 in the Classical
Charts and No 120 in the National Charts.
Zoë has also sung in many concerts in
and around Oxfordshire with many UK
celebrities. As well as hosting
her own show on 18 June 2006 at The
New Theatre in Oxford, ZOË MACE &
STAGECOACH CHARITY SPECTACULAR selling
2,500 tickets and raising £20,000 for
5 local children's charities! She has been awarded ITV Central
Television’s “Local Heroâ€: FoX FM's
Local Hero:“Young Mencap Person Of
the Year†by the Countess of Wessex;
"The Year of the Volunteer Award"
from the CSV charity; "The Chairman’s
Outstanding Achievement Award", by
West Oxfordshire District Council
and "Argos Wavemaker" award.
She was invited to sing live on BBC’s
Dick & Dom programme, invited to
St James Palace by Her Royal
Highness The Countess of Wessex.
Had a surprise meeting with Zoë’s
idol, Lesley Garrett which was
organised by ITV Central News
and was invited to sing in concert
with The Royal Marines Orchestra
at Portsmouth.Zoë has now raised £120,000 for
charity since the release of her
first album and is currently recording
her third classical album this year.

www.zoemace.co.ukAs a mother I feel blessed to
have 2 wonderful daughters and
remain extremely proud of both
of them. Jodie achieved so much
in her very short life with the
continuous support of her devoted
sister Zoë, she made such a
difference. She shattered peoples
myths and illusions of Downs
Syndrome and enveloped everyone
she knew with irresistible hugs
of love, glorious kisses and
sunshine smiles. Jodie made the
world a bright and beautiful place,
touching so many peoples hearts
with her magic and firmly making
her very own permanent mark on
life, I don’t know many people who
achieve half of what she did in a
life time!Zoë lost her sole mate, her pupil,
her companion, but courageously
carried on with her life. With
tremendous courage, dedication
and incredible drive, with her
gift of voice she “Sang for her
Sister†with the strong belief
that everyone who bought her album
was another person converted, who
will see Jodie’s picture and be
reassured that people with Downs
Syndrome are not scary to be with.
This is Zoë's way of coping,
keeping her sister’s memory alive
and she has so much more planned. So that's me a very proud mum who has
one child now an angel on the other
side and one angel still here as she
has much more to achieve.
ALL I KNOW IS THAT THE WORLD IS A
BETTER PLACE WHEN ZOË SINGS!!!!
