Stoke on Trent Old Skool Hip Hop

About Me

DJ FRESH
Is the assumed name of the MC and DJ from the techno band GOD COMPLEX. The songs are experiments in re-creating original OLD SKOOL hip hop and RAVE. The Guys talk about Stoke-On-Trent in the eighties and ninetees.Anyone who is old enough, or should I say lucky enough to remember the days when Electro and Rap hit the underground B-Boy scene, will love the tunes and the memories will come flooding back. "guaranteed nostalgia"The Beats are created from scratch (pardon the pun) and are truly original and from the minds of two veterans of dance music. There may be the occasional riff ripped from an electro classic, but thats as far as it goes. You will have to be a real collector of electro stars to spot them, and anyone hearing them for the first time 'ENJOY'The Old Skool connection.DJ Fresh started to write raps way back in the early 80s and formed a crew with Daniel Spencer, Dave Maxfield and Daz Willott. The crew was called the Thunderboys and were influenced by the Beastie Boys. The guys didn't really take it too seriously though, even though they played to over a million people live on the radio on one occasion, courtesy of Signal Radio's Lee Finan.Daz Willott became a living legend of a DJ at Shelleys, Entropy, Gods Kitchen and the popular Fantazia nights.DJ Fresh pays homage to these and other great memories in his tunes, and other notable icons from the past. including The Place, Torch, Trevor M and everthing that made the eighties and ninetees so amazing.Lately DJ fresh has become the shining light in the re-emergence of Hip Hop on the music scene in stoke on Trent, and has pioneered the rise in popularity of the genre in the live music scene. The Bitjam electronika night and the Hip hop @ Fatcats nights are proving ever popular events. The popular "OATCAKE FM PODCAST" is also helping to spread the sound around the world of music.
