About Me

I'm a cartoonist who specializes in comic strip art. I recently finished a children's book and have designed everything from office supply catalogs to websites for the hearing impaired. Back when the internet was a bit younger I created a site called CARTOONIVERSE and with it a comic strip called MEGAN. Once the bottom fell out of the internet, I took some time off webcomics. However, the glamour of being a relatively unknown cartoonist was too strong to ignore, so I created THE BATTY SHOW, which was a website to showcase my strip BATTY. My latest creation is SAM THE DRAGON.Having lived during the time of Dragons, Unicorns & Faries, I thought it would be fun to create a webcomic that examined the other end of the coin. Our strip includes a cuddly dragon, a feisty unicorn and their guardian fairy, Ms. Flutterby. Join their misadventures as they try to fit into the typical American suburb. Visit our website for today's strip!

My Interests

Comic strips, webcomics, cartoons, graphic novels, comic books, manga, fishing, playing guitar and bass, movies and books, Raising American Bulldogs.

I'd like to meet:

People who either love cartoons or at least "Sam the Dragon". I'm definitely interested in other cartoonists, both syndicated and independent, as well as filmakers and fans who have a passion for this subject. Also, always been a big fan of Rock n' Roll, so any good bands out there that really know how to tear it up. For the most part I'm cool with everyone except people who are only trying to get me to sign up for a pyramid scam or come to their adult web site (see blog for misc. rants on that subject).

Music:

Rock N' Roll! I've been known to listen to a lot of Reggae as well. Also always had a soft spot for jam bands like The Dead, Phish or 311. Oh yeah and Air, The Dandy Warhols, Morcheeba, The New Radicals and Pink Floyd.

Movies:

Anything by Pixar. Star Wars: The original trilogy, Lord of the Rings, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Lilo and Stitch, Waiting, Lost in Translation, Anything by Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez or Kevin Smith (yes, even Jersey Girl), Fight Club, Natural Born Killers, True Romance, Dazed and Confused, Fear and Loathing, Time Bandits, A Mighty Wind, South Park Movie, The Blues Brothers. For some reason I'm addicted to "Making of" specials and sometimes have been known to watch those more often than the movie on the DVD (especially when it comes to the prequel trilogy).

Television:

I'm a big fan of Futurama (and The Simpsons for the most part), Family Guy and South Park. I also watch Rock Star: Supernova, The Contender and Smallville. Oh yeah, I love Doctor Who in all his incarnations.

Books:

BATTY: So zis bat flaps into a bar.
SAM THE DRAGON: 2007 Calendar and Activity Center
SAM THE DRAGON: Jump on the BandDragonIn our house we pretty much love books of every kind. My library includes mostly Graphic Novels and comic strip collections, but my wife absolutely loves Chic-Lit and Young Adult, so I get a lot of exposure to that as well. I also usually try to read anything by Neil Gaiman, Dan Brown or John Sandford. I read Manga and still love American comics books. Understanding/Reinventing Comics by Scott McCloud is still one of my favs, as is The Dark Tower series and The Hobbit/Lord of the Rings.

Heroes:

Gary Larson, Charles Schulz, Bill Watterson, Scott Adams, Darby Conley, Dan Piraro, Scott McCloud, Bill Amend, Stephan Pastis, Pat Brady, Will Eisner, Berkeley Breathed, Walt Disney and Matt Groening.
