About Me

Guru Monkey started from a few songs written a couple of years back. The songs were written with no intention of ever recording them until J met Joel in Cork Head's bar, Tsukuba, Japan and Joel offered to record 'Let's Be Reasonable About This' CD through Nexist: the first project.
Guru Monkey are a 'workshop' band. This page is dedicated to their second project album ... Cause And Effect.
J writes the songs and sets the chord arrangements, while Joel embellishes the songs, and produces. Ken O'keefe plays the drums. Bruno Shakir has also played bass, added treatments to the music and sung on a few of the tracks on the up coming CD.

Band Members: J.Walker - lyrics, chord arrangements, rhythm guitar, lead guitar (now and again), lead vocals, backing vocals, mouth trumpet, and is responsible for all the dreams anybody ever had of playing lead guitar properly someday.

Joel Shawn - lead guitars, rhythm guitar, keyboards, lead vocals, backing vocals, production.

Ken O'keefe - percussion.

Bruno Shakir - Bass, vocals and treatments.

Other contributors: Gavin Palmer - bass; Stefan Gerhartz - honorary member, pianist and spoon player. Anyone who contributes in the future.
