Cristobal Viveros:
Chilean born, naturalized American, Nagoya resident woodwind player. Started clarinet at the age of seven and added alto saxophone at the age of eight. Suffered through a stifling musical education at the hands of secondary school band teachers in Durham, NC, but persevered through the encouragement of his private woodwind instructor and musicologist Scott Warfield, as well as Duke University Jazz Dept. head Paul Jeffrey who's workshops he attended. Continued on both instruments through university, but since has focused entirely on the possibilities of the alto saxophone. Moved to Japan to participate in, and be influenced by, the Japanese "avant-garde/ free jazz" scene.
Intent on combining traditional and non-traditional playing techniques, as well as musical styles, and composition to create a personal yet communal music that is unique and unconventional yet still "accessible" to audiences.
KEI:
Hiroshima born, Nagoya resident, nationally renown guitarist on the COUP label. Originally part of Osaka "Noise" scene, created his own sound upon emigrating to Nagoya. A musician on the COUP label ( http://www.coupgut.co.jp ) , KEI's solo recordings ( http://bridge.shop-pro.jp/?pid=1756632) ) as well as those with guitar/ vocal duo "ett" ( http://www.couplabel.com/ett/ ) ( http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewpro file&friendid=1000468632 ) are well known throughout Japan and even reach audiences abroad. Very much in demand, he is often on tour and works as a sideman in several musical projects.
Kuwayama:
Nagoyan born and bred, local drum icon. Drummer for well-known punk rock band "6 Eyes" as well as new wave project "Texas Pink," Kuwayama is constantly searching to expand his musical vocabulary.
Sancussion / サンカシオン wish to create sounds that are representative of their surroundings.
