Organised in 1996.Living in Tokyo..
Released 3 albums, from 1st Album "SPANAM" to previously released "symmetry". And Joined 3 compilation and tribute albums.
They have always surpriesed audience with their original music and aggressive live performance. They use Japanese words that is hard to express in Heavy Rock, and have played at the same level of other artists who came to Japan. (Played with Slitheryn(USA), Shutdown(USA), Madball(USA), Millencolin(Sweden).
In 2001, they played in the biggest metal festival in Japan "BEAST FEAST 2001". (Slayer, Pantera, Sepultura, and Machine Head played for the festival.) They got mad respect for their live performance from Artists who played in the festival.
They showed and proved their performance in 2002. SPANAM was elected as one of 16 bands for the compilation album "Enter the BEAST FEAST" that includes artists played in "BEAST FEAST 2002" by listener's vote.
In 2004, Slitheryn(USA) called them to their US Tour and played on 11 lives in the States. (American Apathy Tour 2004 with DOPE / Mushroom Head / Motograter / Twisted Method / Slitheryn) Sold out all tickets in the tour and US listeners called them "Japanese Deftones".
After US tour in 2004, one of members withdrawed. And next year, basist "Akiteru Eatman Ito" (ex. SPACE COMBINE / UZUHI) who lived in NY joined and spanam were revived.
SPANAM is the most quality important band in japanese heavy rock scene that releases so many commercial songs.
The album "ReBIRTH" that cotained 6 best songs in their historystill has their energy and has "Sadness"that makes listeners feel their passion. This album is the very "ReBIRTH" of spanam and the rebirth of Japanese heavy rock scene.
