REVIEW(EAST COAST ROMPER http://www.myspace.com/eastcoastromper )
Here we have another Japanese based band from Zestone Records. Although I expected something similar to what I heard in DATURA, I was pleasantly surprised to hear a healthy influence of screamo/emo in this unit. Even though they are from another part of the world with a drastically different cultural belief system and musical ideology it felt as though they were from the US. Barring the packaging of the CD, one would never know they reside in a country thousands of miles away. They handle their loosely fitted, shuttering guitar work like masters of their domain and the intricacies within that guitar work was simultaneously impressive and epic. The vocal design consists of clean vocals as the focal point that are usually followed up by hallowed, intense screams creating a conflicting, yet disturbingly attractive model of musical emotions. Unlike many of their class, LOST has a genuine, heart-felt honesty in their emotional lexicon ready and willing to be dispensed at a moments notice. This in turn enhanced the unpredictable factor to a level beyond your average screamo/emo band. From a general standpoint, you could place their style somewhere in between THE SLEEPING, ARMOR FOR SLEEP and perhaps OPEN HAND. Certainly not an exact clone either but the transitions between the heavier, angry moments and the serene/false sense of calm moments are just as drastic as you would hear from the previously mentioned bands. A point of interest should be noted here that this band actually recorded this album in 2004 but because of a lack cross-continental exposure, the US didnt get their chance to hear this band until this year. One could argue that they were ahead of their time and may not have even known it. Cast aside your preconceived notions of music originating from somewhere other than the US and check out this band.PROFILE
About LOST
LOST was formed in 1998 in Nara Japan. After few years later, LOST's original drummer left the band and they started to look for new drummer for more than 2 years. 2003, new drummer TAG (who is a former drummer of a band called GLITCH who supported Slitheryn and E-town concrete's Japan Tour) joined the band and restarted the band. As soon as the new drummer had joined, LOST started recording for their 1st album "INNOCENCE" in 2004. On 25th/11/2004, the album was released and 1000copies were sold within a month. During the tour of the album, the new guitarist Yusuke joined the band. LOST had toured all over Japan and even did some shows in Korea in 2005. Also as a part of the tour, LOST played at “Independence-D" at STUDIO COAST Shinkiba Tokyo with excellent bands such as THE RED CHORD, NURAL, THE DELLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, THE HOPE CONSPIRACY, MISFITS, MEST and lots of more. In late 2005, LOST’s new song “Frozen" was released. In 2006, LOST supported all tour dates(9shows) of PIANO (UK)'s Japan tour in Japan. After the tour, LOST played at Taste of Chaos in Japan with Saosin, Underoath, Taking back sunday, Anti Flag and Senses Fail. LOST is planning to start recording their new mini album from 2007.LOST has SHARED STAGE with;
