About Me

glitter-graphics.com
Who am i? I’ve been given the nicknames “sassy”, “Fiesty” and “Romperchic” , but out of all the names the only thing that matters is why I started this profile, the website and the name THE EAST COAST ROMPER. I love music. Bands that are sincere, have courage, passion and strength are what made me want to start this whole website/profile. A band that comes out with a style and write words that can change your life are the bands I have supported, have loved and makes me not want to stop doing what I have put together with the ROMPER. It all started in 1994 as the ROMPER began as a print mag until I found the internet and since 99 has been a website. Just recently I took that down and wanted to give the myspace thing a chance since millions of ppl know about it. So here I am with a staff and music that keeps me passionate about writing. I’ve managed bands, done promotions and interviewed until my hearts content and realized that is what I love to do: interviewing. Chatting with bands and finding out everything about them. Music has given me memories, great friends and adventures beyond your wildest imaginations. This is my Therapy, my place where I can let all the bad good and ugly out and I am proud to say long live the ROMPER.

So, lets see I have always been into music. But I really learned most of it from our Stephanie. She was the one who took me to one of my very first shows, where we interviewed Throwdown. Since then I have loved rock music even more and it grows everyday. I write because its a way to express how I feel about the album and hopefully my opinions are good and some of you follow them. After I graduate from UMASS Dartmouth, I want to move to Chicago with Stephanie and weave my way into one of the record labels out there and work with the bands and possibly do some marketing for them. One day I hope to have my own label and bring in bands that will rock this world.

I was born in Ashton Under Lyne just outside Manchester in 1976. I was fed Iron Maiden from day one by my dad, however with having a dad who is classically trained also played a big part of music taking over my life. Regularly attending performances by the Halle Orchestra at a young ago was just the start, but it was the influence of Iron Maiden that held my interest in metal. Getting into my mid 20s my passion for music grew stronger and myself and a friend started writing fro soundXP. The first review I ever did was My Chemical Romance at the Night and Day Café. Following this I decided to start writing short horror stories and then finished a creative writing course. System of a Down to me has been the band with the greatest impact on my life and admire the work Serj Tankian has done as a band and more recently on his own. I am a regular attendee at both the Leeds Festival and Download Festival and do my best to get to a gig at least once a month. It was just by chance I found Stephanie via the awesome 36 Crazyfisits myspace page and she asked me to help input into her site, it was the best thing I have ever agreed to do. Thanks Steph xx

American Patriot who lives in NJ and has been writing CD reviews for many years including East Coast Romper as well as his own 'zine and a long running stint with Carbon-14 magazine. I also hosted a metal radio program in college on 91.7 FM WLFR in college. In my free time I enjoy practicing my bass, running, reading financial news, numismatics and recently got hooked on sudoku puzzles- it's a very exciting life and you're right, I should really slow down before things get out of control. Fun Fact: Used to draw cartoons for a local paper. Not So Fun Fact: Works for a bank. I've been friends with Steph since East Coast Romper was a half page, photocopied fanzine and think she's one of the coolest and honest music fans out there. Despite the number of CD's I've reviewed over my life time, it's still always a thrill to discover a new band or CD that kicks ass. I've been turned onto a lot of bands and albums over the years from ECR and I hope you have the same experience.

BAND OF THE MONTH

APRIL 2008

Under the Flood is a hard rock band from Charlottesville, Virginia. The band's ties extend back to their high school days. Making their story even better is the fact that the members of the band had no idea that one day they would come together and synergize their musical talents and ideas.Under the Flood's formation begins with guitarist, Matt Nadolski. After high school, Matt's drive for music kept him busy writing heavy guitar lines intertwined with melodic riffs. The need to fulfill his musical desire did not cease as a solo artist. He called upon lead guitarist and longtime friend, John McCleary, to kick the music into high gear. John and Matt had jammed with one another during their teenage years and clearly understood each other's style. John had spent years honing his skills as both a precise rhythm player, and simply put, a shredding mastermind. His approach to music, matched with Matt's rip-roaring style, made Under the Flood's guitar work innovative and dominant.During their early years of collaboration the guitar duo did not realize how much of an impact they had made upon Matt's younger brother, Dave. Music was instilled in Dave at such a young age that his growth as a singer and lyricist has been enormous. Through studying voice, and being part of the local music scene, Dave realized he wanted to take his vocal career to a higher level. Teaming up with his brother and John was the perfect fit.The trio turned their attention to Kenn Davis and invited him to join the band. Once again, Matt knew Kenn during their teenage years, when Kenn shared the stage with American Idol's own Chris Daughtry in the popular band, Cadence. After Cadence disbanded, Kenn remained active playing music, but had not found a permanent home until the call came from Under the Flood. Kenn's high energy bass playing and blistering live performance became a key asset for the band and their future. With one piece of the puzzle missing, the search for the right drummer began. Matt soon learned that his high school jam partner, Daniel Smith, was teaching drums in Richmond and actively playing gigs around Virginia. The band tracked down Daniel and offered him the job as the band's drummer. Immediately, Daniel meshed with the group on many levels.Under the Flood has formed and their connections are deeply rooted. Their goal is to establish a similar connection with their fans by delivering the highest level of energy at all live performances. The band finished the production of their debut album, "The Witness," with Brian Craddock of Daughtry, in the summer of '06. The full length album is now available! Under The Flood will follow this release with an onslaught of live touring in 2007. Beware of the rising tide...
