Little Blue Smurf

It's not easy being blue...

About Me

TheSMURFS and their accessories, along with their friends the EMPIRE GNOMES and the ASTROSNIKS were extremely popular in the 70s and very early 80s. Many people received a great deal of pleasure putting together very large families of these vintage collectibles.

WHAT IS ASMURF ???

Far, very far from here, in a little village full of mushroom shaped houses live the SMURFS . The little characters are three apples high, have blue skin and are dressed in white trousers and a cap. They are a happy, easy going, bunch give or take one or two. In the beginning ...the first people to meet the Smurfs were Johan and Peewit. You can only enter the land of the SMURFS if a SMURF invites you. With the help of an enchanter called Homnibus, Johan and Peewit managed it. The wicked Gargamel is still trying. Johan and Peewit could not believe their ears when they learned these little people that bounce around like kids are actually 100 years old! Papa Smurf with his white beard is the oldest of all: “I had just turned 542 when the chanterelle mushrooms came up last June!” He said that in October 1958 when the story first appeared in the weekly “Le Journal de Spirou”. So that makes him 542 now. Smurfs never get older. Baby SMURF will always be a baby. And the SMURFETTE , well no-one asks how old she is. It’s not polite.

In 1958, the SMURFS made their first appearance and went on to become the world-famous characters we now know today. Although most cartoon characters are known through their books before becoming TV characters, the opposite was true of the SMURFS in the US. The incredible success of the SMURF figurines led to them being adapted for television by Hanna Barbera along with NBC.

SMURF FRIENDS

WELCOME !
to our friends the BULLY BEES.

We are sharing our space with the BEES
and hope you will enjoy visiting with them also.
The Bees were produced by BULLY and have
been discontinued.

The Bully Bees (also known as Bully Bienen) were produced in Germany in 1975. It is suspected that they were created as competition (or because of the popularity of) a European Cartoon Biene Maja. There are many books that have been published telling the adventures of Biene Maja. Bully later produced the actual characters from the movie (cartoon) and the books in another series actually called Biene Maja. These little Bully Bienen were produced in very small numbers and are really difficult to find now. They make good friends for the Smurfs (and a great addition to ones Smurf collection). Please notice that the Bees also had their own beehive home.
