Lion, rising straight out of the underground onto the mainstream music scene, is one of the most unique artists of today. With his Reggae/R&B hit “Hold Onâ€, which has become known world wide, he definitely has the streets talking, especially the ladies. But don’t get it twisted, the men are vibing to his strong lyrical content and melodies as well. Along with his unorthodox style of meshing reggae/dancehall with hip-hop and r&b, Lion is incredibly multi-talented; he writes, produces, and performs his own music.Lion, born on the11th of December in Boston, MA started writing music from as early as the age of seven. His cousin Marvin “Young MC,†was a witness to Lion’s early penmanship. He grew up watching the success of Young MC who at the time had the Grammy award winning hip-hop classic record “Bust a Moveâ€. Lion’s reggae influences came from watching his uncles who were also DJ’s (selectors), as well as promoters. His uncles threw parties which Lion was sneaking into at the age of six. He visited his father every summer in Jamaica and went to school there (Ocho Rios Primary and Iona Prep.). Lion then became even closer to the reggae/dancehall music. While attending Parkway middle school in South Florida he formed rap/singing groups, M.S.T. and Full Effect, which he sang in and wrote music for.Never the less Lion continued to study, collect, and write music while attending Dillard High School. Then his mother transferred him to Plantation High School where, he became one of the top reggae/hip-hop DJ’s (Ruckus Sound) and night club promoter in his town, Ft. Lauderdale. Lion met and worked with many of the reggae/dancehall greats such as Sean Paul, Busy Signal, Sly & Robbie, and Beres Hammond just to name a few. With his strong passion for music Lion went on to Broward Community College to major in music.Since then he established his own record label “Bliss Music Entertainment†with Andre Mullings (DreManagement) and released “Look in My Eyes,†“Spend a Day,†and his first hit single “Hold On†along with the music video that’s in heavy rotation on prime television stations worldwide. Lion has caught the attention of a lot major players in the industry such as DJ Khaled (Miami’s 1 DJ), Cool & Dre (South Florida’s top producers), Jazzy-T (of Renaissance Sound), and Shane Brown (of Juke Box Records) which he has all worked with.Lion is what one would call, “a true Jamerican,†he represents a mixed culture. He is the voice of those who grew up in both worlds, with songs that illustrate their issues, struggles, and lifestyle from their perspective.
