About Me

---Check out must see Pics--------EARLY RUCKUS: "Ruckus".....which was originally a violent and brawling gang of 26 teenagers out of Dillard High (Ft. Lauderdale) 1995 became a full fledge professional Sound in 1996 when Lion, Deveus (Ethan), and Crip (Denva) the three selectors(DJs) got together and formed it. Alongside other crew members Deenie, Jinx, and Slink(which joined in 98). Before taking over the club scene in South Florida, Ruckus started to gain tremendous popularity with their series of cassettes titled "The Infamous Ruckus" and their unforgettable slogan that listeners couldnt help but repeat "BAD BAD BAD RUCKUS." Reggae dancehall lovers blasted Ruckus tapes in their car systems, walkmans, boom boxes, and home stereo systems. They quickly became many dancehall fans favorite sound, in their hometown of Ft. Lauderdale. The greater success came when Ruckus finally hit the club seen in 1997.*******
Many patrons that heard of them were shocked to see that members of Ruckus were merely 16 year old kids that were playing music at a (Stonelove/King Addies) professional level. And they feared no one, always ready for war musically and physically anytime anywhere. Ruckus rained in 1997-1998 with the marketing skills and charisma of Lion, the music versatility of Crip, the heart of Deenie, and Deveus's technical abilities, they had set new records for the maximum capacity of patrons at several venues (violating their fire codes). Not only were they raining in Ft. Lauderdale, but by the end of 97 The Infamous Ruckus tape series was big hit in Jamaica, Queens NY, Northern Florida and Claredon, Jamaica. Ruckus was on their way to becoming the first major international sound out of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, which hometown patrons and out of town fans were expecting them to become; as word began to spread about this phenomenal sound through out the rest of the five boroughs of New York, Atlanta, and several other parishes in Jamaica.
-----THE FALL:----------Sadly though, in the beginning of 1999, a few members got into some serious trouble with law; which lead to the end of their rain. Deveus(Ethan) went on to play music for another sound named King Acid. Ruckus was unheard of for one year, which consequently caused their fans to move on as well. Fortunately in the beginning of 2000 some members were able to clear their situations with the law and Ruckus made a comeback in March. They also began their "The Infamous Ruckus" tape series again which was on CD this time around, but they werent as consist with their series as they were in the past. They attempted to continue year after year, but inconsistency would plague them. Due to the struggle of rebuilding and new responsibilities at the time, Ruckus was unable to become the powerful force they once were. In 2002 there was continuous feuding between Lion and the other members which lead him to officially depart from Ruckus. Lion who dropped out of high school in 98 decided he wanted to finish school, further his education, and persue his music career. He made cameo appearances once in awhile on certain occasions in 2003 and 2004 but that was it since. But as they say, the show must go on and the remaining two selectors Denva and Ethan has been carrying on the torch.
-----RUCKUS NOW:----------Ruckus has continuously manage to evolve year after year with the vast and ever so changing dancehall/reggae music. Maintaining the laws and codes of true authentic soundmen, like the greats before them (Jaro, Addies, Gemini, Stonelove, etc.) and mixing it with the new techniques of today. And now with Denva (mic man/selector) at the top of his game with his commanding, sharp, and sizzling voice, it makes them unstoppable. He has been voted by dancehall patrons as one of the top 10 mic personnals worldwide. Despite the their differences; Lion is the man behind the scenes, responsible for their signature remixes. Unlike the currently new CD DJs, Ruckus paid their dues, by buying duplates, vinyl records, and equipment (turntables, amps, speakers, etc). Carrying that heavy load to each club/venue was not easy. Ruckus can play dubs from every major dancehall/reggae artist, their current and past hit tunes. The sad part is that very few dancehall patrons of today care about or pay attention to dubplates(dubs); nor the creativity of remixes from the new sounds. Never the less, through the love of music Ruckus continues to hold it down and please those that still appreciate and vibe from it.*******
At the end of 2005 Ruckus again started a mix CD series titled, "Unleash" which was also the title of one of Ft. Lauderdale's biggest dancehall events. A series of CDs began to spread across South Florida, which gained them new fans and also let the old ones know Ruckus is still alive. The event was a success, but it was discontinued due to hurricane damages. Just as they began to rise once more, again they were plagued with inconsistency. But for anyone that has been watching the path of this sound, should know Ruckus is not giving in. They have too much talent to expose to the world. If theres one thing that can be said about this everlasting sound is that through out the journey of 10 years so far, they were and still are one of the most original sounds of all time. Theyve always been innovative, creating new styles and music formats which other sounds tend to follow. Ruckus has accepted that fact that many individuals will tend to copy their creative styles due to their own lack of creativity and talent; and Ruckus's lack of exposure to prove their work How can someone be a leader without followers?...... which is a motto for them.....so they've learn not to get upset, but to play their role. In the words of Denva, We set the trend, while others maintain it.
