About Me
Tales..........From the Dark Side.Hey everyone what's up, my name is Egan and I live in TX which isn't too bad, I just wish it wasn't so damn hot. I love movies as well as music (especially live music). I like to write too in my spare time occasionally. I don't really have any novels or stories or anything (yet) but I do like to write about stuff that's on my mind to other people and in little journal entries as well. I'm a college grad who graduated with a degree in Marketing in Dec. of '06. I'm the kind of person who just likes to take it easy in my spare time and hang out. I also love to go out and do stuff too whenever I get the chance like bike riding, the gym and other things. I'm single now so I'm pretty much here for friends and whatever else. I love meeting all types of different people, not just one category or group. I'm really big on movies and I'm always trying to stay up to date on what's going on. I also love music too but was never really that much of musician. That didn't stop me from going to more concerts than I can remember. I lived in California too as well for about almost twelve years in and around Los Angeles and in between that time in New Orleans. When I was living in California however I met a few famous people and had some of the best times of my life, so it was a worth while place to be. I might even end up moving back one day, who knows. For right now though TX is where I'm at. I don't really have any regrets in my life as far as what I have done and what I have accomplished. I kind of just follow the Matthew McConaughey look on life and that is "just keep on living". I’m always up for conversation with anyone so if feel the need to chat or anything then hit me up.%D%A%D%A Grindhouse

Geography, Nature and Economic growth: Less privileged countries face a lot of natural barriers which poses a lot of problems for global managers whose organizations do business in those areas. Climate and topography, poor environmental policies and natural disasters management, droughts, floods, soil erosion and in some cases civil wars afflict nations were global managers do business. Two particular authors from Turkey named NES, YUSUF and COSKUN, AYNUR AYDIN had this to say about the ever growing concern of environmental problems, “Dealing with environmental problems, "participation" has emerged as a central theme. There has, for some time, been a growing recognition within the government and society at large that the future of Turkish environmental protection depends on more effective participation of multiple stakeholdersâ€. Because of these problems global managers need to access the potential damage of what might happen in case something like the before mentioned situations might, and have in the past, happened. Social Responsibility and Environmental Management: Environmental protection is an essential part of complex process of doing business. Since the population of the world keeps increasing over the years like it’s supposed to be, more and more of the earth is being used up. One example of the earth and it’s environment being so heavily used and damaged is the Green House effect. This particular problem occurs because gases in the atmosphere (water vapor, carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, and methane, for example) trap energy from the sun. Without these gases, heat would escape back into space and Earth’s average temperature would be about colder. Because of how they warm our world, these gases are referred to as greenhouse gases. This of course is just one example. Other examples would be of course pollution both by land, sea, and air. These problems in recent past have been viewed as global problem’s and also as one’s that pose a common threat to humankind therefore global managers unavoidably are faced with these problem no matter what. Availability of Resources: The ability of nations to generate energy and availability of minerals are the foundations of modern technology. Some of the world’s nations are not endowed like the rest; therefore their demand for a particular mineral or energy is not totally met. This situation creates a huge problem for global managers. Population Growth: Overpopulation of the world can be a major problem for global managers also.. A lot of nations are faced with population explosion and yet the inhabitants are faced with inadequate income, low literacy level, little or no access to health care or family planning, no improved nutrition and most importantly very minimal progress has been made in most of these countries regarding the cultural beliefs regarding having large families. Even though this one particular is almost inevitable in so many ways, we still need to as human beings try and make it so that the planet we live on now can still be livable in the next 100 or even 200 years later on down the line. If we do this then future generations will not have to live in a world of suffering and disease. OF course in the business world perspective, we need to also make it so that we as a society can still function in the way we were meant to. %D?or those who do not know what shrinkage is, it is a phrase used to describe all instances in which stock goes missing. The causes of shrinkage falls into four main categories: customer theft (shoplifting), staff theft, supplier under-delivery and processing errors. Some see shrinkage as a cost of doing business, an inevitable by product of an industry with large amounts of consumer products moving around in the system at any time. Others say that it is less of an issue as long as sales keep growing. As we all know, sales are under pressure at the moment. It is hard to pinpoint exactly where in the supply chain it occurs and what the cause of the problem is. According to particular author named Joshua Bamfield who wrote in his article titled “Shrinkage, shoplifting and the cost of retail crime in Europe: a cross-sectional analysis of major retailers in 16 European countries†he goes on to say this about customer theft and shrinkage “Retailers estimated that customer theft was the greatest security problem they faced, responsible for 48.4 per cent of all shrinkage.†Apparently, customers account for 43.8% of shrinkage in the UK, but employees account for 36.4%. Shrinkage is also very difficult to evaluate. There are huge variations in shrinkage costs across sectors even between retailers in the same sector and some categories that are more prone to it than others, such as products that are easily portable and easy to sell; batteries, perfumes, alcohol and razors. Total retail shrinkage is equivalent to 24.1% of retail profit, according to the Centre for Retail Research. Small shops suffer higher rates of customer theft 54% than large multiples 37%, while big stores lose a higher proportion to employee theft 36% than smaller businesses 20%. There were 2597 known incidents of customer theft per 100 outlets in 2001, with 7.6 known incidents of employee theft per 1000 members of staff. In 2001 there were seven reported incidents of violence against staff per 1000 employees, 66% of which were caused by prevention of customer theft. Another author by the name of Xiangwei Wang who wrote the article titled “Calibration of shrinkage and beam offset in SLS process†had this to say about shrinkage and the employee theft connection “Employee or staff theft was thought to account or 28.8 percent of shrinkage and theft by suppliers and suppliers' staff 7.5 per cent. The proportion of shrinkage accounted for by internal error was 18.3 percent.†The products most frequently reported as stolen tend to be heavily promoted brands; Gillette razor blades, followed by alcohol, toiletries, clothing and batteries. Instant coffee and packs of meat are also popular targets.%D%AOne of the key issues facing management as we enter the 21st century would have to be global terrorism. Terrorism itself has always managed to linger itself in the air to some extent to the point where we would basically have to at least pay it some attention, but after September 11 that all changed. This was a perfect example of something Global Managers would have to face, and maybe even deal with, as the threat of terrorism itself grew and turned itself in to something that was even worse than it was before. One such effect that terrorism has caused would be the rise or high costs of terrorists insurance right here in the U.S. Author Joshua S. Goldstein, author of “International Marketing†had this to say about the ever growing insurance premiums facing managers today “Businesses facing possible losses from future terrorists attacks have turned to insurance companies for protection. But after 9/11, when direct loses were estimated around $40 billion dollars, insurance companies withdrew coverage for terrorists attacks.†This really hurt businesses in New York for example and even if they could get the coverage they needed, it would be at such a high price that with all do respect it wouldn’t even be worth it. The other effects of Global Terrorism itself are of course coming with a heavy price as well. The loss of major international markets is one thing but the loss of life is even worse and within just the last 3 years alone, terrorism has claimed the lives of so many both in the U.S and outside of course as well. With problems such as these facing the global economy, global managers need to reconcile and deal with these problems head on so that they can have some balance when it comes to taking care of both domestic and international business.%D%AOne of the reasons why Global Terrorism is one of the key issues facing global managers today is because it affects everyone, everywhere, in every country, and is not just restricted to just one nation. So far we have seen terrorist attacks in some of the worst possible degrees that anyone could possibly imagine. This being the case, Global Managers have to maybe reconstruct some of there rules and regulations so that they can function in the world today. If they do this then they can eliminate so many of the barriers that the may face in the years to come. Also the fact that it affects pretty much everyone, everywhere means that businesses, both small and large, will have to find some way of adapting as well. %D%AWhen it was mentioned earlier that Global terrorism was taking its toll with a heavy price, some experts couldn’t agree more with this statement. As stated in the textbook “International Marketing, 12th Edition†from author‘s Phillip R. Cateora and John L. Graham, includes one part of a section from Ch.1 that reads like this “Today, seeing in to the future is harder than ever. Most experts expect global terrorism to increase and perhaps increased armed conflicts as well. Many fear housing price collapse and the associated economic disruptions.†If we really could somehow see in to the future and predict exactly what the outcome of the world market would be then we of course wouldn’t even need to bother with coming up with new ideas and solutions to better the international environment as we know it today. But since we can’t predict every major event, we need to be more forewarned and prepared so that the global business environment does not fold under pressure form so much heat and debate form all the violence that is taking place in the world today...
