The Kidneys were made up of three veterans of the original music scene of Birmingham, AL. The band came together for the first time in September 1998 & immediately knew they had the potential to create something unique. Having watched each other grow up as players in former bands & respecting each others music ability, they had an understanding of the chemistry the band would have before they even played together. As a result the band performed and wrote a diverse group of songs that are difficult to define due to the complex arrangements & the eccentric powerful executions. Influences include: experimental jazz, finely crafted sonwriting, punk & post punk, the underbelly of the New York underground avnt garde, and familiar bands such as the Beatles, Sebadoh, Thinking Fellars Union, Sonic Youth & Captain Beefheart.
