Wanted Unsigned Bands

About Me

HiyaMy name is Dawn and I'm a writer, producer and presenter on local radio statio Hfm for Heywood in Lancashire. My show is called The Attic, for two reasons, The first is that my shows are pre recorded in my attic at home where I have a lil office/studio/Forbidden Planet stock room. The second reason is because this year Hfm will be broadcasting from 2 Market Street in Heywood. These studio's and offices were used by many people including local band Tractor, Record Company Ozit Morpheus and the late John Peel who would pre record his shows ready for the pirate stations. In 2002 I got into radio thru an advert seen in my local supermarket for courses in Radio Production, I thought I might as well give it a try as I didnt have much else to do. The course had lasted a few months which had turned out to be training for a project that New Deal For Heywood had dreamed up, the town's very own radio station. We were trained in every aspect of running a radio station, everythin from health and safety right up to broadcasting live and everythin in between. My first show Homegrown went on air at 8pm on friday september 6th 2002. The show included music and interviews with local bands Jonestown Massacre, Parabolica, Random Task and August. This show got me 2 credits at level two Media Studies - Radio Production (Advanced Certificate). The Hfm broadcast that year only lasted for 3 days, this is because you dont get a full time broadcasting license right away, you have to build up trust with the licensing board. The second year we broadcast for 5 days, which I got to do another 2 shows as well as help out with fellow presenter Jackie B. I had to give 2004 and 2005 a miss due to family commitments (I had a baby girl Scarlett Lynn in july 2004). And now this year I'm back again, with a new name due to relocation of both personal space and Hfm broadcasting space and with the help of all you lovely people on MYSPACE. I'm always on the lookout for rock/metal/punk bands to interview, donate songs to my playlist, record jingles and presenter promos and take part in any way they would like. I'll always return the favour by giving your band a mention on air and adding links and banners to the official Hfm website (when its up and runnin)***************************************************** *********************************The Future**************************** Hfm have applied for and are waitin to hear about their application for a 5 year license that should be in time for next years broadcast. And we may also be relocating to swanky new premesis in the basement of Fairfield Hospital. *********************************************************** The pictures below are of me, The studio at 2 Market Street, Heywood as they were back in the 70's, and as they are now, awaiting a refit ready for this years broadcast. Mr Bifter - post interview kazoo!
