About Me

I'm a bum.. An unemployed bum.. I like it this way. More time to not do too many things. I like music, it keeps me occupid but not necessarily sane. Food is my passion in this life and I try my best to categorise my personality in accordance with foods of different sizes, colours, frequencies, etc.. I pretend to understand art. I can be quite irritating and pretentious (not that any of the people I know have said this about me, but what do they know? Besides they're all irritating and pretentious.. Hell, we're Arts students.) I like stuff, but will almost always try to say something cynical just to sound like a smart-ass, even about things that I like.

My Interests

Sleeping 14 hours a day.. Thrashing death-metal riffs on my guitar to disturb people. Heckling..Laphroaig, Havana Club, Cohiba, Bombay Sapphire, Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Medoc, Bordeaux (The 2003 Chateau Gramet is the best wine I've had in a while), some Sauvignon Blancs and some Chardonnays.. Nutella, Andrews Burgers, Dannys Burgers, Freeki, Mlookhiyee, Fatti, Pad Thai, Chili Oil Dumplings, Steak Tartare, Crustaceans, Gatorade, Maltesers, Cheese Cake, Apple Pie, Shorbit 'Adas (Arabic Red Lentil Soup) and Bisque..

I'd like to meet:

I still want to slay parking inspectors no matter where I go.. I still hate Stephen Stills, he can't play guitar, and I'd love to see Neil Young bash the shit out of him. I'd love to meet Thom Yorke, just for shits and giggles.. and to all my feminist buddies: I'd love to meet and hang out and become friends with Jessica Alba.. I want to bathe her tush-tush, brush her hair, and make her breakfast.. is that weird ? There, I said it..

Music:

Rock, Blues, Jazz, Dub Reggae, Metal, Folklore, Alt-Country. Radiohead, Dylan, Neil Young, Led Zeppelin, Doors, Pink Floyd, Morbid Angel, Opeth, Ziad Rahbani, Marcel Khalife, Pantera, Bob Marley, Whiskeytown, Ryan Adams, Feist, Goran Bregovic, Slayer, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Jimmy Smith, Wes Montgomery, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, B.B. King, Freddie King, Sepultura, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Kyuss, Helmet, Rolling Stones, the Beatles, Interpol, Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Tom Waits, Guns n Roses, Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler, The Police, INXS, The Cure, AC/DC, Crowded House, Fairouz, Massive Attack, Bjork, and many many more.

Movies:

Clerks, Harold and Kumar Go To Whitecastle, Dazed and Confused, and other great stoner movies. Of course, Amadeus, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Coen Bros films, Scorcese films, Tony Gatlif films, Kubrick, Tarantino, etc.. I recently watched The Last Waltz, and Levon Helm is a phenomenal drummer. "Into the Blue" is a fantastic flick.

Television:

Seinfeld

The Simpsons.. Curb Your Enthusiasm is the closest any TV show had come to being as good as Seinfeld. Scrubs is a pretty good show. Black Books, the Office, Little Britain, and other hilarious British shows are just as good as anything American.

Books:

Albert Hourani, Ma'ruf al-Rusafi, Jamil Sidqi al-Zahawi, Hanna Mina, Gibran Khalil Gibran, Taha Husayn, Giorgio Agamben, Michel Foucault, Ernesto Guevara, Karl Marx, Irving Goffman, and many more of these cool and lonely intellectual dudes.

Heroes:

True Human-beings.. and cool gangsters

My Blog

Lounging

I write this from the First Class lounge at Dubai airport. The only prestigeous thing about this place is the amount of bald old fat men lighting up cheap cigars. Egh!!

Ataxia

I am now aware that Ataxia's album "Automatic Writing" was released in 2004, however I only knew of its existence when the sound engineer at the Liars show in Bilbao last month had plugged in his...
