About Matt Jordan
Matt was born in Poughkeepsie, New York. He studied trumpet under his dad, a tough classical teacher from Italy who played and taught every instrument in his concert band, as well as being proficient on violin, mandolin and piano. A demanding teacher, he had Matt playing operas on trumpet at 9 years old.Although Matt started with Classical, he moved on to many different styles of music, and recently completed a Smooth Jazz CD, "Matt Jordan Featuring Kelli Sae".While in college, Matt had his own small and big band, as well as playing with the Ohio State University band. Being in Columbus, a large city, he had the advantage of performing with many great pros such as Roland Kirk, Art Blakely, Sonny Stitt, and Freddie Hubbard. Matt taught trumpet for awhile after his college graduation. He worked his way through college solely by playing music for a living in Columbus, Ohio, and on short tours. While in Columbus, Matt met multi-saxophonist, Roland Kirk who encouraged Matt to play two trumpets at the same time at a concert in Lexington Kentucky. Matt was the first to do that, now followed by some others. He still plays two, but only occasionally, responding to requests. While he is the leader on most of his performances, he has played both lead and solo trumpet in several bands.***SMOOTH JAZZ*** Matt Jordan Featuring Kelli Sae
