Robby Berman has been making albums since high school, a long, long time ago. After a few decades of trying to crack the music industry -- as songwriter, performer, and staff recording engineer for legendary rap label Sugarhill Records -- he bugged out of the NYC area and head upstate to Woodstock, where he remains happily to this day.
The recording's never stopped, though, and his home studio, though not much to look at, has become a powerful creative space, thanks to MIDI and Macs. Less and less interested in the mainstream Biz, his mastery of his craft has nonetheless continued to grow non-stop.
Not so much just a singer, or a songwriter, or even a player, Robby's increasingly become simply a record-maker, handling all of the writing, arranging, singing, playing, and engineering chores himself as he brings into existence the songs in his head and in his heart. His new CD, Melody, Words, Rhythm + Harmony is the first of his many albums to be released.
