Sounds Like:John Foley's Radar Rangers first came together to record the songs John was using in his work as a music therapist and things just got out of hand. The songs drew on John's work with legendary folk singer Oscar Brand and on the years of rock&roll bands that came before.Bob and Lisa Hammerstein added drums, vocals and world-beat percussion. Bob has played in many bands throughout his professional career and is now doing sessions for people he meets through the internet. Isn't technology great? Lisa sang in a number of bands while living up in the Catskill Mts. of New York state. Bob and Lisa were high school friends and hadn't seen each other for years when they met again in Hoboken NJ where Bob was playing one night. Shortly after that Bob proposed to Lisa from the stage at the Paramount Theatre in Madison Square Garden in front of 6,000 people when his band was opening for Blood, Sweat & Tears. Needless to say she said "yes" and now they are making music together.Watch this space for information on Ranger Chris and Ranger Barry, shrouded in mystery until now... Suggested tracks: "Blue Chihuahua" is a first-rate Rock&Roll cha-cha that should appeal to fans of Jack Johnson's "Curious George" soundtrack, "Crash, Boom, Bang" is a jug band blues and "The Halloween Song" gives the folk-rock treatment to a 500-year old melody. The newest album "Barnyard Rocket Ride" is now available through CD Baby.com. Click on the links over on the right column to order. About the songs: "Pigs" has lyrics by John and Oscar set to a traditional fiddle tune, "Ain't Nobody Here" is the Louis Jordan swing standard, "The Ah-Mm Song" is the story of a boy who invents Doo-Wop and "Wonderful World" is the Louis Armstrong favorite. The Elbow Mambo is, well, The Elbow Mambo...
