From Article about the Mid Atlantic Motorcycle Show: Dana D’Oench “Metric Revolution Rookie Builder†Dana D’Oench was the only female builder of twenty-two chosen to compete in “Metric Revolutionâ€. Dana was selected to compete in the Rookie Category. The producers of ESPN’s “Metric Revolution†– Motorcycle Build-Off Reality TV Series conducted a nation-wide search for the “best of the best†custom motorcycle builders in the United States. After narrowing the field from literally thousands of entries, twenty-two contestants were selected to compete in three categories – Cruisers, Sport bike and the Rookiesâ€. Dana, born in Miami, Florida, grew up as a tomboy but had wonderful role models…her mom and dad. Her dad told her to “love what you do in life†and her mom told her “if the boys can do it why can’t you?†She has taken this advice with her and has obviously lived by those words. She started out riding bikes as just a passenger, but quickly decided that she wanted to be in control of the bike herself. She was in Journalism classes in college when the build-off opportunity landed in her lap. She had never built a bike before or used practically any of the tools it takes to build one, but over the years she had met a lot of people in the industry who ended up helping her make this dream happen. She did around 90% of all her fabrication, 50% of the body work and assisted in the final assembly. I just finished a Biker Build off that ended Sept in Vegas. I was the only girl of the four Rookie's in my class. I ended up getting 3rd in viewers choice out of all 22 builders including the pro's.
