First about Digital Venus
I'm Erik and this is my private MySpace profile. And I'll claim right now that I am not an "ordinary" 51 year old. Some times I wonder if I ever want to "grow up" :-)
My "Meyn reason" for beeing on MySpace is because of the "music project" Digital Venus. Please visit Digital Venus on MySpace by using
www.myspace.com/dvenus
So, but, er...yes, this is my private profile. And before you do something smart, like visiting Digital Venus, I'll tell you that I used to appear in front of some (Norwegian TV) cameras in the "good old days".
That allows me to use this profile page to show some of my "video history".
The profile is best suited for Norwegians, as all the video content is in Norwegian. But the text is all in English, as well as the Digital Venus profile.
What more can I say? I'm born in the sign of the Cancer, I write words and use machines to make a kind of "music", it's just a hobby. Nothing serious. I read books, go to the movies and live in an area you might call "the Greenwich Village" of Oslo (or rather the "Grüner Village" :-)
Thank you for stopping by! Use your browser's STOP button or the escape-key on your keyboard to stop the background music "Solskinnsdag" ("A sunny day"), made solely with Propellerheads Reason virtual studio and a little spontanous "mictalk" :-)
:D
Erik and NRK 2 Spider
From Youtube (because of better playback): - This TV-show (it was aired during September to December 1996) was labeled a "hamster on amphetamine internet entertainment show for the very very specially interested viewer". I hosted the 16 live shows from the NRK studio in the arctic city of Tromsoe and we had no safety net whatsoever. The only net we had was internet. And sometimes it did work, but...
NRK 2 Spider: "Only for you"
The song (an early version of "Coming my way") was called "Bare for deg (Only for you)" in Norwegian. It is about a guy who is frustrated because his girlfriend wants to surf the internet instead of listening to the new (horrible) song he wrote for her :-)
The song is really the finale of the first of sixteen live shows where a lot of things went wrong. Internet, which the show was based on, was still "young, promising and unstable". The clip itself is "slightly edited" to get rid of irrelevant supers (supertexts), but the performance was nevertheless "very live".

NRK 2 Spider: "Ready, cue, three"
Another of the "spontanous songs" from "NRK2 Spider" was this one, in English it would be called "Ready, cue, camera three". In Norwegian it's called "Klar med kryss til tre'ern". The story behind the song is that I, Erik, also am trained and educated as a multicamera TV director, which basically means that I've been taught how to direct a multi camera production in a TV-studio. The song tells about the "first difficulties" when attending a course for TV-direction and in the lyrics one can hear a call for "more brain cells"...

Performance on the air, third time.
NRK 2 Spider: "Again and again"
This is yet another video clip from the Norwegian Broadcasting 1996 "hamster on amphetamine internet entertainment show" called "NRK 2 Spider", aired from September to December that autumn. In this clip, we did an experiment. First, we posted a rhyming message on the newsgroup forum "no.alt.frustrasjoner" (newsgroup Norwegian general frustrations), a rhyming text about the seriousness (or lack of seriousness) on several of these forums. The message was posted in the morning and the same night, the message was read or "sung" LIVE on "NRK 2 Spider" while the viewers were able to actually visit the forum for "Norwegian frustrations" and read the message at the same time.So maybe this was "a first", because it's not every day that someone will post a part of a TV manuscript on a newsgroup and then use it live the same day. It's a pity, but you'll have to understand Norwegian to be able to enjoy this ten year old "flashback" from when Norwegian Broadcasting dared to broadcast this very special freak show.

Another performance on "NRK2 Spider"
The rights to the three clips from "NRK 2 Spider 1996" belongs to Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation.
"NRK2 Spider" (first season) was presented at INPUT in Nantes, France in 1997.
Directing "Solskinnsdag"
This video clip is called "Solskinnsdag" ("A sunny day" in English). It is also linked from Youtube because of better server playback capabilities. Click the video start image (twice if necessary). The Norwegian lyrics says "a sunny day", "I have no worries", "I'm happy" and "lucky", yes, that's all the words. I'm "singing" the words. The "actor" is my brother Ulf Meyn. I wrote the tune and he changed it a bit and plays live on it, so I guess it's a song from both of us.

Startframe shows the Huk beach outside Oslo i colorized mode :-)

Erik and ancient gear
And last: An extreme and ancient eighties demo; The track was done by using all but 2 k of memory on an old E-mu Systems Emax I sampler. The whole thing - Fuck the loop - was done solely with the Emax and it's sequencer and no quantizing ;D
