www.ladykfever.com ..Lady K fever is a multi disciplinary artist who explores the worlds of visual art, film & theatre, writing and photojournalismBorn and raised in Canada, She began her Career in the Arts as a dancer but unsatisfied with one expression she began to experiment with other art forms. Her introduction to Hip Hop at the tender age of ten by the New York City Dancers fueled her direction as an artist.She began exploring her social/political visual voice in the early 1990’s through bombing graffiti on her Canadian streets from Vancouver to Toronto as the tag name FEVER. Leading her to become involved with Canadian entertainment/fashion collective House of Venus forging a path into the visual arts world as a female graffiti writer who merges art, writing, designing, performance art and dance.As one of the first few Canadian female graffiti artists she put herself into graffiti herstory in The Birth place of Hip Hop: New York City. In 2001, Lady K fever became the first Canadian woman to paint in NYC, pay her respect and earn her keep as a female graffiti writer being put down with NYC crews KD, TDS, CAC and many others. The first Canadian female to paint at the legendary Harlem Graffiti Hall of Fame in 2003 and 2004. She was presented with an Emerging Arts Ghetto Fab award for artistic excellence along side NYC graffiti legends.As a photographer/journalist, she began her professional career with Backspin magazine from Germany as an international contributor, influenced by her dance background her photos capture split movement in multi exposures or stellar portraits of creative minds that are shaping the hip hop and art world. Her love of nature also captures her lens; flowers, landscapes or the concrete jungle where she roams she continues her documentary quest of how she sees life and the beauty of the ironic.As a painter, her visual expressions are a creative balance pioneering her own feminine style. Capturing moments of being in the experience and the rhythm of movements, the process of making art is what fascinates her; bottled up emotions expressed abstractly through shapes, colors, lettering or visions of natural beauty.Her work has been most recently featured at the Danny Simmons Corridor Gallery, B girl Be Summit at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis Minnesota & in Galleries, private collections through out North America.Through her dedication to social consciousness through the arts; her focus has become more about public art projects/murals most recently with New York’s CityArts: 5 Murals, 5 borough’s project in NYC teaching her skills to future artists. She also has painted scenery for Commercial businesses and residential clients. Her TV & Film credits are The Addams family TV series, AMC’s Into Character series and Gemini Award (Canada’s Oscar) winning films “from Time to Time” and Magnus Opus.Lady k fever has created a curriculum for children & youth that focuses on the positive aspects of Hip Hop that is educating and engages kids in learning, developing and respecting hip hop's past & creating a better future for themselves through visual arts with a hip hop twist. She has taught her curriculum at the East Harlem tutorial program, Bronx school of the future, Pepatian’s & Bronx museum’s Hip Hop Academy 2005 & 2006. She is a teacher with the Bronx Museum of the Arts Teen programs and teaches through out New York City.Her passion is also Curating; bringing artists and ideas together. Recently she worked with the Aurora gallery/wetpaints.com History in the making graffiti art series in Manhattan; she supports the NYC graffiti community through presenting new artworks and showcasing old school and new school artists together.Her art, journalism & photography has been published in the New York Post, The Hook Hip Hop newspaper, Backspin Hip Hop magazine and featured in films, television, books, magazines, newspapers and websites globally.She continues to document passionately her surroundings and is working on upcoming Exhibitions and book projects such as Burning New York: Broken Windows 2 and Graffiti Woman.
