The Root Doctors , one of Gainesville's longest-standing groups, profess to be "old enough to know better and crazy enough not to worry about it."The band, which plays original compositions and a tasty blend of old-school blues and psychedelic garage rock, features Hyde & Zeke Records owner Chazz Scales on creamy guitar, vocals and broken stuff; Richard Groene on black guitar, dancing and keeping of The Hut; Bryan Blair on bass, rock history, attacking midfielders and creating shirts; Rusty Valentine on drums and bringing down the band's average age; and the fabulous Mr. Jim McKay on vocals, words, effects and instigation.The Root Doctors go well with cold beer, Kentucky whiskey and any of a wide array of other mind benders.
