He is considered to be one of the younger bass promises from Spain and currently works as electric bass teacher and professional musician in Barcelona.He achieved a scholarship from the Berklee College of Music and furthermore, he had the chance to learn from music masters such as Russell Malone, Gary Grainger, Yellowjackets, Dave Weckl, Tom Kennedy, Richard Bona, Richie Goods, Victor Bailey and Victor Wooten, among others.Throughout his career, he has worked with musicians such as Christian Howes, Federico Lechner, Héctor Salazar, José Antonio Ramos and Andreas Prittwitz. He also took part in an hommage to Jaco Pastorius as guest bassist, back in 2002 (FNAC - Madrid), and in 2006 (FNAC - Barcelona).His name has been linked to the Canary Islands Jazz Festival for many years. He was part of the programme in 2001, sharing the stage with Dave Weckl, and 2004, as the bassist of Paco Marin's group, support band for Victor Wooten Band. His relationship with the festival is, though, deeper as he has been in charge of the coordination of seminars and master classes within it.He recorded his first solo album in february 2005, "So lonely". Chuck Loeb, Nono GarcÃa, ValentÃn Iturat, Andreas Prittwitz, José Antonio Ramos, Antonio Toledo, Juan Carlos Melián 'el pana', Mariano DÃaz, Sergio MartÃnez and Inoidel González took part in the project.
Because of the introduction of this record, Charlie Moreno was back to the Canraias Jazz & Mas scenarios, in its 2005 edition, this time opening for the Lee Ritenour Band.That same year, Charlie played on for Windmill, bass brand that endorses him, in the booths they had in the bass specialized events European Bass Day (Viersen, Germany) and Bass Day Uk (Manchester, United Kingdom), having the oportinity to play with such great bass players like Jon Reshard, Jan-Olof Strandberg, Lorenzo Feliciati, Stephan Redtenbacher, Claudio Zanghieri among others. Windmill is pruducing the model Windforce Charlie Moreno Signature under the specifications of Moreno.In july and because of the celebration of the XV International Festival Canarias Jazz & Mass Heineken, Charlie was invited by Chuck Loeb to play with the band Reunion 06, with Loeb on guitar, Anthony Jackson on bass, Jim Beard on piano, Eric Marienthal on sax, Josh Dion on the drums and Till Bröenner on trumpet. The consecution of the concerts will be reflected in a DVD soon.HIS SECOND SOLO CD, ISLAND STYLE, WILL BE EDITED DURING 2007, WAS RECORDED IN NEW YORK CITY AND PRODUCED BY CHARLIE'S PRINCIPAL PROTECTOR, THE GREAT GUITARIST, COMPOSER AND PRODUCER CHUCK LOEB.
