true love = being strong enough to set that love free, and trust that it returns... time, make it be

About Me

"There's something you must know: I'm so misunderstood. I am a special girl. You know you can't change me. Rather you gotta see me for me. I'm doing the best I can. Try to understand,Accept me for who I am. No woman can take my place.
I'm doing the best I can, So please don't give up on me?
Accept me for who I am.
Just try and understand..."
I'm a genuinely nice person. Helping people and being there for my friends and family is what I live for. Ask me some time about the recent medical mission I just got back from in the Philippines, and I'll tell you how you can help... either through UNICEF or other organisations. Also, because my job allows me to meet so many important people, especially in the entertainment industry, I like to do my bit of PR for my friends and their bands.
But, as a friend, really, personally, don't ask me to trust you unless you're sure ya mean it, and that you're head is screwed on straight! I don't like my time being wasted.
But, if and when I do trust you, I'll be your loyal friend and fight for you; defend you til the end!

My Interests

running, dance - Flamenco, ballet, opera, singing, music, piano, guitar, Irish tin whistle, hockey baby!!! - I'm a Detroit Red Wings fan!; national/international travel, languages - Greek, Spanish, Visayan, and a lil' German; photography, doing free PR wherever i go for my talented friends, silly movies, foreign/Indie flicks, long drives to anywhere, dive bar hopping, vintage/discount store shopping, concerts/live bands, honkytonk bingo, two-stepping, cooking but mostly enjoy baking; adore my lovely and true friends, cars - mostly German automotives, drinking tea, making people laugh and feel at home, spoiling my little nephew when he deserves it,
BAHAHAHA!!! Climax, Michigan... ya got there!

I'd like to meet:

No one, thanks... I'm done. My friends are my friends. I've hung out with them all. The bands and artists are there so I get updates.

Oh, and anyone looking for a date on this site is pathetic anyway. Do us all a favor and quit misrepresenting what it is you REALLY haven't got to offer. To the creeps - I am NOT Asian poon-tang so GET LOST all you pervy, rice-chasers, and anyone suffering from yellow-fever!!!

Music:

classical, opera, anything that fits my many moods. I also have an affinity for good or bad UK pop! i DESPISE any and all current rap, hip-hop or R&B (blech!)- sad how the quality of some modern music has deteriorated. My favs run the gamut from: Lily Allen, Detroit Cobras, The Clash, Elvis Costello, anything 80's really, E.L.O. anyone? Ryan Adams, Wilco, Neko Case, The Siderunners, Nickel Creek, songs by the Notorious DJF, Tim Larson, Rachael Yamagata, Eisley, Eva Cassidy, Carole King, Loretta, Emmylou, Jessie, Shelby Lynne, Bowie, MC5, Billie, Ella, Dinah Washington, The Sundays, Pretenders, The Smiths, Rubyhorse, U2, Gipsy Kings, Miguel Poveda, Andres Cabas, Soraya, Alejandro Sanz... etc.

Movies:

Grace of My Heart, classics like Wuthering Heights, Rebecca, and Singing In the Rain (secret crush on Gene Kelly), Immortal Beloved, Amadeus, Bram Stoker's Dracula, some Tim Burton flicks, In America, Little Voice, Bridget Jones's Diary and a slew of other chick flicks. World films and political dramas such as: El Amor Brujo, Flamenco!, Eleni, Rebel Heart, The Magdalene Sisters, Some Mother's Son, Frida, In the Time of the Butterflies, Ash Wednesday, To End All Wars, Bloody Sunday. Dark/light comedies: Bean, Mean Girls, Drop Dead Gorgeous, Never Been Kissed, The Boondock Saints, Dodgeball, Dogma; also, LOTR series, Harry Potter films, The Exorcist, The Red Violin, Quills... etc. Also, I've had this weird quasi-obsession with "Xanadu" since I was 8, due to the sweet sounds of E.L.O., and Olivia Newton-John, plus, it's a continuation on my Gene Kelly crush. That "Warriors" guy was kinda stupid in it though.

Television:

don't watch much TV really, but for background noise, i'll turn on Charmed (weak, i know, but damn, can those girls accessorize!) i do however enjoy and will sit and watch Law & Order reruns, Without A Trace, Cold Case, anything on History, Travel, Discovery, Sundance channels, Family Guy, whenever i have the time.

Books:

Oh so many....InStyle mag and the latest Escada catalogs (they're considered books... right?), The Ordinary Princess, the Bronte sisters, Anais Nin, Jean Rhys, Gregory Maguire, Eleni by Nicholas Gage, Jorge Amado, Poe, Kipling, Conrad, Goethe, Utopia, David Sedaris, B. Jones's Diary, Grosse Pointe Girl, Edward Gorey - Amphigorey, Sleeping Beauty series by A. Roquelaure, The Mayfair Witches series, A Cry to Heaven, Violin by Anne Rice. FAV POETS: W.B. Yeats, Pablo Neruda, that nutty ol' Emily Dickinson (loved enough to have set one poem to music), Rabindranath Tagore.

Heroes:

Eva Cassidy for the pure beauty and talent of singing a simple song with honesty and heart; Carole King, for making the piano rock! Frida Kahlo, for being so damned ballsy! Maria Callas, for her elegance and the drama of it all! "Una voce poco fa, qui n'el cor mi risono...." My paternal grandparents for their Spanish-Andalucian roots, especially my grandmother for her awesome cooking and having kept me well-supplied with salabat tea. My mother, for being fearless in the worst of the absolute worst situations, and thus treaching me about REAL strength! My father, for his saintly patience with my crazy mother.
