Welcome, my green brothers and sisters and fellow thespians! I love to gab about books, actors, musicals, and movies. To those of you with dissimilar interests: if you have any questions or just want to talk, feel free to send me a message. I'm looking to talk with like-minded or open minded people, and I'd love to hear from you.
Drinking Alone Under The Moon
Among the flowers from a pot of wine
I drink alone beneath the bright moonshine.
I raise my cup to invite the moon, who blends
Her light with my shadow and we're three friends.
The moon does not know how to drink her share;
In vain my shadow follows me here and there.
Together with them for the time I stay
And make merry before spring's spend away.
I sing the moon to linger with my song;
My shadow disperses as I dance along.
Sober, we three remain cheerful and gay;
Drunken, we part and each goes his way.
Our friendship will outshine all earthly love;
Next time we'll meet beyond the stars above.
- Li Bai
I love musicals. Don't get me wrong, I like all types of music...but I LOVE musicals. Give me a tap dance over a mosh pit any day.
I especially like the dark musicals, they appeal to my sense of humor. Sweeny Todd, Parade, Bat Boy, Chicago, Cabaret, Little Shop, Jekyll and Hyde, Avenue Q, Ragtime, The Last Five Years, Assassins, and pretty much anything by Sondheim. And I have quite a soft spot for the big dance shows: A chorus Line, 42nd Street, Fosse, Hairspray, oh I could go on and on...
I like too many movies to name them all. My favorite directors are Tim Burton, Baz Luhrmann, Allan Ball, Kevin Smith, Quentin Tarantino, M. Night Shyamalan, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Peter Jackson, Sam Raimi, and several others.
Guess my favorite movie... ;)
I don't watch a lot of TV; living in the city there's just too much to do. I do happen to think South Park is brilliant though...just because they so carefully offend everyone.
I read as much as possible. Fiction and Non-Fiction...recently it's been more non-fiction. My home library is now starting to overflow. Does this mean that I need to slim down my collection? No, it means I need more book shelves. :)
See where the Green Girls alter ego, Bookstore Girl, originated. "Thank you, have a nice day!"
Yoda and Kermit the Frog. Hey, it's not easy being green.
