About Me

I'm a hot rod and custom car designer, who happens to dabble in his first passion, painting, whenever time allows. I grew up on Hot Rod Magazine, Car Craft, MAD Magazine (Mort Drucker is my hero!), CARtoons... Basically, anything OTHER than a textbook... although, modifying the pictures in history books was always kinda fun.
Anyway, I launched my own studio a little while back, and things have been going well, thanks to some great friends and fortunate connections made along the way. This year, you may have seen my work in one of these fine publications:
I'm a proud dad of three boys, and am married to a very supportive, understanding wife who still manages to find some humor in me... and has the patience of a saint. My all-time favorite cars are lakes-style roadsters and anything with that Valley Custom vibe (fade-away fenders, Carson tops... anything that oozes cool miles behind that ground-scraping club plaque)... traditional, home-built cars will always have a place in my heart... Odd, considering my over-exposure to pro-street excess and mega-dollar show cars in my more formative years, but then again, maybe that's why I groove on simplicity.
My studio is called Problem Child Kustoms Studio , please give it a visit sometime... and then send everyone you know, too. It can't hurt. You may have seen my work in Hot Rod Magazine, Street Trucks, Custom Rodder, bathroom stalls, notebooks, and menus.... or maybe you've never seen it before, and could really give a crap. Either way, thanks for poppin' in -- and should you need a rendering, design, logo, whatever, hit me up, please!Long story short, I'm doing what I love, in the face of every teacher who ever said "you'll never go anyplace drawing cars", and then went on to blabber about assignments and whatnot. Who has time for that when you're shading a drawing of the world's baddest pro-street Fiero?! I sure didn't.
I've designed toys, die cast cars, web sites, just about anything you can imagine in print, and some pretty cool apparel, too. I like to keep myself diversified enough to keep a meal on my kids' plate, and make every job unique and memorable.
The wife and I are starting our new project... Part Nova, Part Camaro, all bad-ass.... Here's the rendering:
Look for updates on the website soon.....More to come.

My Interests

....and of course the greatest compilation of knowledge, talent and personality anywhere:
I'm a fan of the work of Mr. Eric Darby:

I'd like to meet:

Anyone into cars, art, humor... People with a great attitude and a lust for all things absurd. Anyone with a cool nickname like "Biscuit" or "Pork Chop". Food names are cool. Anyone who can point me in a new direction with my work that maybe I haven't tried. Norm Grabowski. The person who wrote the Meow Mix jingle... it's damn catchy.

...and anyone wearing one of these:

Music:

Just about anything, really. Tragically Hip would be at the top of the list in Studio, followed by anything from Rush to Zapp and Roger, to Blur, Accept, Dio, Frank Zappa...Misfits, Transplants, Velvet Underground, Reverend Horton Heat... it's pretty much an all-over-the-spectrum deal here when it comes to music.

Movies:

Back to the Future. Bullitt. High Fidelity. Sneakers. The Hollywood Knights. The Magnificent Seven. The Blues Brothers.... and A Fish Called Wanda.

Television:

No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain. Rescue Me. It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Futurama. The Shield. (gee, an FX theme...), Overhaulin', and any new Oxy-whatever product infomercial... Of course, Henry Rollins, too!

Books:

The Count of Monte Cristo. Sun Tzu Was a Sissy. The Elements of Style... 'Nuff said.

Heroes:

Any kid battling leukemia. My parents. Anyone who's willing to help launch this tasty treat:
