I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I'm old. I have a 14" long tongue and I can breathe through my ears. Okay, that's not true. But if it was, would it change things? I have a strong work ethic meaning I take pride in my work and I get the job done. Recently, I've been going to a lot of different places for work. Places I wouldn't otherwise have probably gone in this lifetime. Travelling around and seeing new cities, new people, and new beer has been wonderful. When I'm in town, i'm usually hanging with my friends at one of the local spots playing pool, having fun, laughing. When I'm home, I'm probably working on fixing up the house, reading, doing crossword puzzles, sleeping or playing on the computer. Someday I will figure out how to combine any two of the above and make millions selling the concept and the how to video on late night TV to people just like me who stay up too late watching late night TV.

My Interests

I play Discgolf. It's a lot of fun. It mostly involves the throwing of frisbees and walking around while you shoot the breeze with your homies. Watching movies can keep me entertained for hours. Heckling can make a bad movie good. Hanging out, breathing, eating breakfast, sleeping, fixing stuff, figuring things out, taking things apart, those are all high on my list of things to do. Taking massive amounts of pictures while I'm on trips has been interesting. Learning to actually take cool pictures has been a challenge. Having a digital camera helps in that you can take as many as you want and just pick the good ones. I dig on hockey, too. Watching it live is truly something that everyone should experience at least once.

I'd like to meet:

Albino conjoined twins, a 22 year old with a pinky finger shaped like a question mark, a midget with an attitude and a Mexican wrestling mask, anyone who won't interupt my cabbage patch, a filafel stand owner who will eat his own wares, folks that are funny ha-ha, and pretty much anyone else, too.

Music:

Like a lot of folks, I'm all over the board, here. I don't really have one particular type of music to listen to. I'll take the Reverend Horton Heat, The Postal Service, Simian, The Gorrillaz, Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Jay-Z, and Esquivel, slap them all on one CD and listen, zone in, enjoy. Recently, I've been looking for and finding new and interesting music. Have you heard of Aluminum Babe, Indochine, Dungen, the Arctic Monkeys, Ratatat? Have you heard some of the new stuff from Radiohead? Until recently, I hadn't, but it's all pretty good. So, if you have some good recommendations, feel free to share. Everyone needs good, new music.

Movies:

5 points each if you tell me where they come from:

"Give it a name."

"Ishn't dat Veird?"

"Bunny. Ball ball."

"Is this going to be the kind of training where we sit around for 20 years until you finally tell me I'm ready to break bricks with my big toe?"

"He comes in at 5'11", 6'7" with the afro."

"Purple lightning. That's always a good sign."

"Radiateur!"

"Klatu! Virata! Nicto!"

"Yeah, this place is dead, anyway."

Television:

been diggin on Monk, Scrubs, My Name is Earl, Family Guy, Nova. Pretty much, if it's on the discovery channel, the learning channel, or the history channel, i'll probably sit and watch it. Did I mention hockey? Yeah. Hockey. That rocks too.

Books:

I've been reading a few things, here and there. Just finished off the Thursday Next series by Jasper Forde. Very good reads. Sped through Assassination Vacation, which was enlightening and funny. Always looking for something new to read. Recently hit Nickle and Dimed, Fastfood Nation, and Tipping Point, all with sociological themes. Went through Shop Girl, Schott's Original Miscellany, Dan Brown's run of books, Bringing down the house, and a host of other stuff. Having a good book to take with on trips helps. Suggestions are always welcome.

Loquaciousness

What do you do when you're on a plane, feeling pedantic, but not really wanting to actually talk to the next occupant over?  You write a blog.  Then you forget to post it....
