I am here for Dating and Friends

About Me

Creativity is important to me. I've been writing poetry for years and enjoy reading it at open mics. Much of my material is funny because I enjoy making people laugh. In early 2005 I recorded a CD of spoken word called "Dry, with a Twist." I dabble in painting, mostly abstracts with lots of bright colors, texture and movement. Painting is theraputic, and I don't have any blank walls in my home. My favorite passtime is hanging out at a local coffee shop chatting with whoever is around about anything and everything - fashion, philosophy, sex, drug addiction, religion, the hot guy sitting at the next table, etc. I have friends as young as 16 years old and as old as - well, let's just say significantly older than 16.

My Interests

hanging out at coffee shops, writing poetry-like things and reading them in front of groups of people (see my blogs for samples), crossword puzzles

I'd like to meet:

If you're interesting, I'd like to meet you. If you're open-minded, I'd like to talk to you.If you're funny, I'd like to laugh at you.If you're creative, I'd like to befriend you.If you're bald, I'd like to rub your head.If you're all of the above, I'd like to date you.Okay, you don't have to be bald, but it would be a nice bonus.

Music:

Nathan Asher & the Infantry, They Might Be Giants, Spader, Lincoln, OKGO, The Little German Band, Simon and Garfunkle, Negativland, Ken Nordine, Dave Brubeck, King Missile, and Lambert, Handrix and Ross

Movies:

My Favorite Wife, Desk Set, Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead, Hudson Hawk, What's Up Doc, They Might Be Giants, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Serendipity - Cary Grant is my favorite actor, and I love screwball comedies.

Television:

I like sit-coms, especially older ones, so I watch a lot of TVLand. I hate reality shows. Sometimes I get sucked into one for a short time, usually because there's some hot guy on the show, but I always feel dirty afterwards.

Books:

Kurt Vonnegut ROCKS. I met him one time, years ago. I also like The Left Hand of Darkness (Le Guin), The Crying of Lot 49 & Gravity's Rainbow (Pynchon), Catch-22 (Heller), and Myra Breckonridge (Vidal). Lately I've been reading a lot of Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys mysteries, but that's because I work at an antique shop and they're always on hand. I couldn't read Catch-22 at work - I'd get too involved and be totally unaware that there was anyone else in the building. That's not a good thing when you work in retail.

Heroes:

whoever invented air conditioning
