the originally Indonesian term „lahar“ refers to a torrential flow of rock, debris and mud down the slope of a volcano in response to gravity. Depending on the incline lahars can reach speeds up to 60 mph.This definition may give you a first impression of the Swiss band called Lahar. But to prevent misunderstandings - Lahar aren‘t playing a glutinous kind of music. „Energetic and „infectious“ are describing for the very melodic songs of Lahar. Their music contents a lot of pop-appeal but doesn‘t loose itself in the mainstream. Biting rhythms and brute outreaks as well as the snotty parts make shure that there are some surprising moments which back up their pecularity in the Swiss-music-scene. Lahar are into Emo-rock but they have their emphasis on the harder segment of the genre. Comparisons with bands like „Billy talent“ or „Thursday“ are taken by the band as a big compliment.
