Sound Guru

Started in the UK, working as a DJ then worked for several bands. I got to see The Beatles Live 8 times and the second time was in a Ballroom where the support band was Denny Laine and The Diplomats....Denny started The Moody Blues and had a number 1 hit with Go Now and later became a member of Wings ... I became a road manager for a great band called The Montana's(got to play at The Top Ten Club Hamburg,where The Beatles played). Johnny Jones and Terry Rowley from The Montanas formed Trapeze with Mel Galley,Glenn Hughes and Dave Holland and I worked for them when they recorded their first album for The Moody Blues label Threshold....they should have had a hit with Terry's song Send Me No More Letters...we were the only other band in the UK beside The Moody's using a MellotronWent on to work for The Move(Singer Carl Wayne passed away from cancer 31st August 2004 ..I'll miss you pal, RIP)Not only did they get the first record ever to be played on BBC Radio 1(Flowers in the Rain) but they recorded one of the best Psychedelic singles of the 60's...I Can Hear The Grass Grow seen here played live for a TV showI did tours with The Walker Brothers...They were huge in the UK and Scott Walker was the face on every magazine cover Jimi Hendrix(a very polite and sweet guy)was support on the first tour I did....check out this promo Video of The Walker Brothers ...The Sun Ain't Gonna shine Any More.. width="425" height="350" ..And this video of Jimi is about the time period I toured with him '67...Foxy Lady..... ..One of the Bands I grew up with and know very well was Slade....Singer Noddy holder is one of my oldest friends and still calls me a nickname he gave me in the 60's...Beatle(don't ask) I eventually got asked to work with them,looking after drummer Don Powell...he had suffered anear fatal car crash and this resulted in bouts of memory loss...I constantly had to jog his memory as to how some numbers started...here's Slade at Walsall Football Ground in the late 70's ...great memoriesI went on to work for 5 years with a Welsh Comedian...Max Boyce.....This tour was more Rock n Roll then any other I had done more fun,more partying and many adventures along the way....We finished one tour at Wembley Conference Center ...next door were Paul and Wings in Wembley Arena.. McCartney drove past our gig every day and saw MAX BOYCE SOLD OUT.....two days later i got a call from the stage manager at Birmingham Odeon Theatre ..he was short of stage hands for a Wings show...I got payed and saw McCartney.... at soundcheck I was wearing my Boyce Tour Jacket and I heard this voice behind me saying ..."Max Boyce ay ...SOLD OUT...Big Stuff" I turned around and there was Paul...we had a 15 minute conversation....don't ask me what about....Thanks Max...Got to work with a band I admired 10cc ...this two song set would have been from the tour I did... Lying Here With You and The Power Of Love(co-written and produced by Andrew Gold ...The beginnings of Wax with Graham Gouldman)One of the guys on the 10cc tour recommended me for a job with Queen in '82 ...what a trip the video below is from the tour I worked on... Action This Day (first tour they ever used keyboards).. The support band for The Queen Tour were After The Fire a great band who did a better version of Der Kommisar than Falco...check it out....Other bands I toured with in no specific order are Kiss,AC/DC(with Bon Scott...great) and many,many, many more.... Took a lengthy sojourn to bring up my daughter from the end of the Eighties ....a period of my life I'm very proud of and look back on with a lot of happiness..... Came out to California in 2001 with my friend Tony Rivers and his son Anthony to play The International Pop Overthrow Festival in LA for David Bash.Played in front of Brian Wilson (OUR IDOL AND STILL IS)and met many new friends (David and Eva Leaf,Jeff Glenn,Gail George to name just 4). Because of my work with Tony some bands asked me to mix their sound.......The Waking Hours with Lisa Mychols below and Heartbeat The NEW lineup of Waking Hours with Emma Jenson on BassLisa is now in Nushu with Hilary Burton and I had the pleasure of handling sound for their debut gigNushu(Lisa and HilaryAnd Lisa Mychols,While I was at International Pop Overthrow I made one of the best friends of my life ...Michael Mazzarella from New York a wonderful songwriter and human being who records under the Bandname ,The Rooks...everyone should have a friend like him......Back in England I met and worked with Michaels guitarist from The Rooks,Kristen Pinnell she was in The Gripweeds and it was her that christened me Sound Guru at The Cavern Liverpool Here are The Gripweeds (named after John Lennons character Corporal Gripweed in How I Won The War)and Astral Man from their CD Giant On The BeachIn 2005 Tripsitter got to perform at the dedication ceremony for the Wilson Brothers (Brian Carl and Dennis from the Beach Boys) family home in Hawthorne California and after at the private reception,with yours truly twiddling the knobs,in front of Brian,Al Jardine,David Marks and a host of family members,including The Honeys (Marilyn,Diane and Ginger) and many fans from all over the World.....a tremendous honour...thankyou Billy Hinsche..... Tripsitter performing at The Hawthorne Dedication Ceremony...........Now it's 2006 and I'm trying to find a way to stay in the US where all my music originated.... any help will be forever appreciated Just remember Music never dies...it just takes time to reinvent itself....just try singing "Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries" in 6/8 time .........
