Stimulators of the mind welcome

About Me

Every month I pick a poet to be featured. I put their work in the blog section and also put some of their work in your comments section. If you have any perticular poet that you would love to be featured just message me and just maybe your poet will be picked.
MAy is Dharmagirl
Rachel Marco-HavensI have always acknowledged the melodic quality of my writing style. A bit of a frustrated talent. I knew I wanted to write, but my writing was very fluid and mercurial, lending itself to not much more than a good love letter. I wanted to write songs, I wanted to write stories.... As a child I wrote a lot of poetry. A few years ago, I had an affair with online dating, and found myself writing erotica. It made sense, I felt like I had locked into my niche, found an avenue for the juice I liked to squeeze out of words. I began experimenting in a whole new way. I no longer felt the desire to quiet the lover in me so i could write a story. Fuck stories! Imma just write. And so I write. Poetry comes out. I come from a very musical background and, although I don't write songs I do sing them. As a musician with no instrument but my voice, I have accepted the poet in me, and I rather like her. Although I embrace the value in erotica, with poetry, I can allow the sensuality to come through, and keep my readers pants on! Everybody wins.Turns out, in retrospect, I have been a poet for as long as I can remember. Until recently, I never called myself one. I have shared a lot here on myspace, in my blog. Much to my readers dismay, I take everything down after a few days. Hopefully the book will be in hands soon. I sing in a band called Naked,I am a skater mom, and I produce a television show streaming on woodstocktv.org... Busy girl!
An interview with Poetic S. and Dharmagirl
P.S.: Why would you like to become poet of the month?
Dharmagirl: II have been following the poetic beauty of this page for almost five years, and you have always utilized this site for the greater good. I appreciate you.
P.S.: How do you see yourself as a poetic stimulator?
Dharmagirl: Yes and Absolutely
P.S.: Have you done any activities to help your community?
Dharmagirl: I have been a standing member in Woodstock for many years. Mostly what I do is on a grassroots level. I am one of the few confidants to many teenagers, and although I am not behind a desk, or in an office doing it, I have helped many young confused teens make sense of their lives.
I am sort of the rock for many coming up in tis fucked up society. And I am a mom, and so that just counts double when my vision and aim is to raise an aware sensitive dashing loving man for the greater community.
P.S.: How long have you been writing poetry?
Dharmagirl: since I was in grammer school.

Poetic Stimulators

I'd like to meet:

Past poets of the month

..

Poetic Stimulation is a place where you can express yourself freely through poetry. Its a place where you can meet other stimulating people and gain knowledge through these people. Poetic Stimulation is a place where you can share your poetry, get help if needed, and to meet really inspiring people. Post your poetry either in the journal section or the comments section. Have fun and enjoy!

It makes me so happy to see so many people posting their poetry and joining the page. When I first created this page I didnt expect to many people to join and be down with the cause, but there are so many of you. There are so many diffrent kinds of people who joined to to I'm lovin it. The whole point of this page for me is to bring people together, to be a gate way to expressing yourself and being heard, and for it to be a way to give other people knowldge in a good way (stimulation).

When I started this page it was to be a realm for artist and poets to share their work. i have goten a comment once that siad " i rember when this page was all poetry and art" This is very true. I miss those days! So please post poetry send in your art on my comments section. We will bring back the purpose of this page! Please leave a comment of this callobor!rember poetic stimulator doesnt know how to spell but the message is thereContinue to stimulate!

Books:

WAYS TO GET PUBLISHED
*There are a ton of books you can find on publishing your own work. The work should be examined well. Or at least looked over and checked for grammatical problems, or flow, etc. I suggest you look up a site called Poetry Critical. @ www.poetry.tetto.org It's a great place to get much needed criticism and critique from other poets. There are also forums on the site that might help you with the publishing question :)
*Go to www.pw.org and check the classifieds - there are always calls for entries - poetry, short stories, chapbook contests, .. zines, etc. A couple of sketchy things to look out for: If the 'reading fee' is more than $20, don't do it. If you are required to buy a copy once they publish you in it - don't do it. If you want your manuscript back, be sure to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Last but not least, be patient - most publications will take a couple of months to get back to you, whether they are using your work or not.
*[email protected]
* A cost effective way to get published to say the least. Through lulu.com. actually publishing it via internet and selling it through there i know is free.. peeps can visit their page and buy it for however much they decide to sell it for. OR...for 35 bucks they can put an isbn (barcode) on the book.. and myabe distribute it to stores themselves or just have their work be "searchable" in an isbn database. so that libraries when they order books..it'll come up. OR they could pay like i think 70 bucks. (i think its 70 bucks) and for that the site will publish and then distribute the poets book to stores like barnes and noble and everything. full scale publishing. you should check it out. its a good site.. a few of my friends have bought my book. and i like that its like you can set your own prices. thing is you actually get royalties and everything like actual publishers give you..but the amount of the royalty i believe depends on how much you decide to price the book.. so that the site "lulu" gets their "cut" lol come one..it's america.. everyone gets their cut ya know? lol but i totally think its a good site. check it out. hopefully this helped.*poetry.com
good luck to all who want to be published

"soothing, move as silky pure and grooving.
move as no, means please just hurry,

soothing, move pure and sure as you bring,

delicately wealthy helping elves see twelve feet,
borrowing sorrow stomps hell out with bell cleats.
they'll cheat. only then themselves they'll beat.

None will run if funded brunches rung in sun drenched
fun quenched compass tounge wrench direction sections lessen.

"The best thing about this group is that people are looking to encourage each other and to share about how they are starting to love the person/body/imperfection/total package that they have been giving. Feel free to talk about pasted, present and future goals here. You will never find a more encouraging and loving bunch of people. Moreover, an added bonus you will never find a more honest kick you in your butt group of people when we realize the world is knocking you down and you are taking it. STAND UP BE COUNTED AND BE PROUD! After all, YOU are HOT SSSSTUFF!
