These coalitions formed based on agreement on public actions focused on immediate withdrawal of U.S. forces from Iraq.* Any group or any person in agreement with the objective was welcome to participate fully. * Decision-making meetings were open and widely publicized. * Democratic procedure was followed. Efforts were made to reach consensus, but votes were sometimes taken. * Outreach included inviting groups to present their own slogans in building events, inviting groups to express their concerns from the speaker's platform, endorsing actions initiated by other groups, and inviting groups to announce and publicize their own separate actions through the coalition structure. * Demands relevant to the antiwar struggle were adopted as slogans of the M20 or O29 actions. * STWC has sought to promote unity and non-exclusion in the antiwar effort.
