Who is Podslam.org?
Podslam.org is a new media joint venture between the non-profit organization, Just Media with filmmaker/philanthropist Henry Ansbacher and Denver, Colorado's most provocative open mic venue, "Cafe Nuba" co-founded and curated by arts activist, Ashara Ekundayo. Podslam.org is the successful partnership between two visionaries who work within communities to create and sustain culture through film, Henry as the Executive Director of Just Media and Ashara as the Creator and Artistic Director of the Pan African Arts Society including the Denver Pan African Film Featival. This collaboration is a manifestation of "art and social change" in action, an opportunity for artists from different worlds to communicate, exchange, and engage.
What is A Poetry Slam?
A poetry slam is a competitive event in which poets perform their work and are judged by members of the audience. Typically, the host or another organizer selects the judges, who are instructed to give numerical scores (on a zero to 10 or one to 10 scale) based on the poets' content and performance.
